It would appear the author is getting paid by the word and Brother can you ever tell. The closest this book gets to action by chapter 14 is talking about the action in the previous book. That may have gotten better by chapter 15 but by then I really didn't care
I've never had to do this before, but I'm tossing this one

Rapidly degenerated into a sea of aimless names (they could not be called characters) bobbing in and out of the story at random - an anonymous photo album - notable for its absolute lack of action - a monolog on the family tree all the way to the droning, sleepy end.

Far more sophisticated than it's detractors realize, crafted to do just exactly what it does - engage hold and entertain. All the wonder I felt reading as a child found here again. As simply sumptuous as any I have ever read, ever.

Good, Simple, Fantastic. Sentences like plays, The best case of the short story ever written, even to this very day.

Hardly uplifting

Perhaps I am spoiled, I crave imagery and plot. This has none of the former and precious little of the latter. The reader does what he can to rescue this unconvincing tome, but after all, a short story remains a short story, no matter how much landfill you pump in between the pages.

an unfortunate purchase

I regret contributing to the authors income. There is very little for the listener here unless it is a clear view of grasping self preoccupation and self delusion. The book is shot through with the same unrepentant rationalizations and finger-pointing recriminations that seem to naturally flow from degenerates and sociopaths throughout history. The author never apologizes, never reflects on his actions except to brag and in the end the accountant never accounts for his own actions.

A Breath of Fresh Ear

The sensuous combination of the narrator, the narrative and the authors shamelessly sunny sWordplay serves up science like Dear Abbey serving a slice of warm apple pie. Gratifying, edifying and yes, absurdly entertaining. The authors Asimovian hand sweeps across the panorama of science, and lingers just long enough to elicit the oohs of fireworks and the ah ha of understanding.

So many words, so few thoughts. Yawn inspiring and the narrators colorless reading does not help. Maybe it gets better at some point but I must admit I could not endure the entire 7 hours.

Tedious

Two pages of transparent plot smeared over a mountain of senseless description. A thinly disguised WWII documentary reworked as science fiction. A long long tiring monotonic listen.
