Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

In a wicked conspiracy reaching across the Mexican border, Tularosa pits a jaded ex-cop against tight-lipped Army personnel, hired thugs, and smooth-talking outlaws. Forced into retirement by a crippling gunshot wound, Santa Fe policeman Kevin Kerney seeks solitude on a small New Mexico ranch far from the nearest neighbor. But when his godson disappears without a trace into the harsh, high-security desert of the White Sands Missile Range, Kerney emerges to search for the young soldier.

There was a lot of gratuitous violence in this book in the series. Not for the feint of heart nor even most of us who abhor needless ending of life. It wasn’t the best in McGarrity’s series.

Historia
Blessed (or cursed, depending on who you ask) with human intelligence, Sir Edgar Allan Kipling, magical talking cat extraordinaire, spends most of his time keeping his human out of trouble. Of course, having a wizard for a human means that trouble is never far away. When Sir Kipling's human goes away for the weekend and leaves him to guard her magical library, things start out quiet. But he soon discovers witches smelling suspiciously of demon magic snooping about, and quiet goes out the window as chaos looms on the horizon.

Storytelling at its Best
Revisado: 12-13-23
I loved the clever braiding of these stories and the ethereal quality of time which does not move in a straight line but rather in a circle. The telling of indigenous stories by the People themselves is so important. Hope to read more by this author in the near future. Tlazohcamati. Thank you.

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

Too much killing not enough plot
Revisado: 11-22-23
I love these stories but this last in the series is killing, killing, killing. I need more interaction between characters. I need more to the story to reveal itself. If Jane’s life and her ancestor’s story is fully written then how about Molly, Evan, or other main character’s back stories being fleshed out. Sorry to criticize but I was rather bored with all the gore.

Historia
Louise Erdrich's latest novel, The Sentence, asks what we owe to the living, the dead, to the reader and to the book. A small independent bookstore in Minneapolis is haunted from November 2019 to November 2020 by the store's most annoying customer. Flora dies on All Souls' Day, but she simply won't leave the store. Tookie, who has landed a job selling books after years of incarceration that she survived by reading "with murderous attention", must solve the mystery of this haunting.

I have been loving your books since Love Medicine, some way more than others but this one I love in particular because of my love for all that are books and because you honor the facts of what was happening in the earliest part of this horrible pandemic. Many of us lost so many family members, relatives and now it’s as if it never happened even though the Virus continues to infect and kill. Thank you for adding to the books that witness these times. 🙏🏽💖🪶

Into The Futre
Revisado: 10-06-23
P.C. Cast presents us with a common storyline of other “end of the world” books however, with an interesting twist - cis-men are dead or dying. A book worthy of reading or listening to, especially through the excellent narration skills of Lorelei King. The ending is a hook into the next book in the series and that’s okay with me as I was not ready for the story to end. A good book to hunker down with on a rainy weekend.
