Historia
Hamish Macbeth, constable in the small Scottish Highland town of Lochdubh, is feeling down after losing both his promotion and his girlfriend, the town beauty, Priscilla Halbourton-Smythe. A trip to a charming seaside inn with his dog Towser's meant to raise his sagging spirits. Instead, he arrives at “Friendly House” to find the ambiance chilling, the food inedible, and his fellow guests less than neighborly. There’s an amorous spinster, two flirty girls, a retired military man, a secretive London family, and Bob Harris, who so nags his wife that everyone wants to kill him.

Not one of my favorite Macbeths, but still very well written. And another great narration by Sean Grindell.

Good story, Great Narration!
Revisado: 08-02-23
So happy to have Penelope Keith back narrating these stories. No one does it better. Really miss M.C. Beaton. Green does a good job, but misses details and makes small changes that aren’t quite believable. Doesn’t seem like he’s read all of the books?

Historia
In the delightful Cotswold village of Carsely, the air is heady with romance. Agatha Raisin is convinced that the new vet has taken a shine to her. But before she can get anywhere, handsome Dr. Paul Bladen is accidentally killed while attending to Lord Pendlebury’s horse. So was it really an accident? All the evidence points that way, but the circumstances are decidedly suspicious....

The most hated man in the most dour town in Scotland is sleeping with the fishes, or more accurately, has been dumped into a tank filled with crustaceans. All that remains of the murdered victim are his bones. But once the lobsters have been shipped off to Britain's best restaurants, the whole affair quickly lands on the plate of Constable Hamish Macbeth.

Another Excellent Hamish Macbeth Mystery!
Revisado: 02-26-23
Another great Hamish Macbeth mystery by M.C. Beaton and I love Shaun Grindell’s narration of these stories. He breathes life into the village of Lochdubh. It’s unfortunate that Grindell was only the narrator for books 3-15. His voices of the characters really made the audiobook series something special.

With their engaging plots, mellow Scottish ambiance, and droll humor, the Hamish Macbeth mysteries always provide a bonnie time. Death of an Addict continues the Hamish Macbeth tradition of superb entertainment, with some fascinating twists. When a recovering addict dies while recuperating near Lochdubh, our redheaded hero suspects foul play. To complete his investigation, Constable Macbeth must leave his idyllic home and travel to Amsterdam to match wits with big-time drug dealers.

Another great Macbeth mystery narrated by Shaun Shaun Grindell
Revisado: 02-26-23
Much prefer Macbeth mysteries narrated by Shaun Grindell. He does a superb job with the voices (especially that of Hamish) and the overall experience is quite a delight.
There are several Macbeth mysteries that someone other than Grindell narrates. While the stories are equally good, the narration/performance is almost completely lifeless, which definitely takes away from one’s overall enjoyment of the story.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.
