Historia
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

The incredible depth of research in this book is remarkable and outstanding. However, Adam's emphasis on character development in the midst of it all is not just needed but indispensable in the time that we live in. Thank you for all your work, Mr. Grant, in writing this book. I hope many will read it and take it to heart.

very helpful
Revisado: 01-19-24
Jeff takes us in the book through a thorough journey of what it means to consider what's next. it's been very helpful to hear his story and learn from his experiences described in the book. He seems to be a very enthusiastic man which comes through in the performance of the book. sometimes perhaps a tad two energetic 😂. overall, this is a great book, especially if you someone around 40 years old, like I am, thinking about what God may have in store for the future.

An invitation to transformation
Revisado: 12-08-23
somebody recommended to me Ruth's book called "sacred rhythms". As I was looking for that book, I stumbled over this one and I'm so glad I did. This book couldn't have been more timely. it is wonderfully written, well. researched, accessibly put together, and a joy to listen to. The content of this book is transformational and a necessity for anybody who tries to not only survive but thrive in this hectic and chaotic time we live in.

Historia
What happens when we literally walk out our Christian life? We discover the joy of traveling at the speed of our soul. We often act as if faith is only about the mind. But what about our bodies? What does our physical being have to do with our spiritual life? When the Bible exhorts us to walk in the light, or walk by faith, or walk in truth, it means these things literally as much as figuratively. The Christian faith always involves walking out, as again and again we find the holy in the ordinary.

A book on walking? oh, yes!
Revisado: 10-19-23
To be honest, initially I was skeptical when the book was handed to me. My pastor quoted from the book and I was intrigued and wanted to borrow it but I was puzzled how someone can write an entire book on the topic of walking. Mark Buchanan is a skillful wordsmith and has the ability to turn the simplest concept into the most profound. Having finished this book, I will approach walking very differently. My default is to hurry through life even when there is really no need for it. One of the main things this book has revealed to me is that God, most of the time, walks slowly. The trouble is that I often run away, or run ahead, and actually miss the beauty of walking, walking with Jesus.
this is a great book!

Historia
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.
