I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the way that it packaged the philosophies of virtue ethicists from across history and delivered them to my future self wrapped in a fine paper of hard questions.

That being said, I do think the back half of this book gets a little preachy about God. I found myself tuning out. these are still important topics and questions for many people, but I don't know if I'm one of them.

I went into this expecting just more Hungry Games YA fare, and for the first few chapters that's what you get. My expectations were very low, and I was pleasantly surprised when Brown took the story in a direction I wasn't initially suspecting.

I do take a few exceptions with some of the things in the plot, not every story is perfect, but if you think Dystopia is as dead as I do and you see Hunger Games when you pick this book up, give it time.

A gripping story of duty and personal revenge, harmonious with Kyoshi's powerful reputation that fans might know from the show.

I was surprised to see a little bit of graphic description in moments of brutality and passion, proof that Avatar: The Last Airbender is able to deliver a story with punch and maturity.

After so many books on Kima, I'm still left confused when this book dwells on it.

Aside from that, everything else is all the KTF you've been waiting for.

Galaxy's Edge is a series which tries its best to give every reader a little bit of what they want.

If you want character drama, the main series, specifically Season 1 + Legacies and Dark Victory has it.

If you're inrerested in high-octane stories about a one man army, Contracts and Terminations is your bag.

If you came to GE looking for a semi-realistic military sci-fi story, Order of the Centurion has all of the boots-on-the-ground action you could ask for.

Though this is a mainseries entry, we see little of the main cast. It's a bit frustrating, but it's also an important turn for another member of the main cast who's been absent for some time--Cohen Chhun. This entry gets back to the kind of story told in Legionnaire, using Chhun as the anchor point to the main characters and exploring multiple points of view throughout the first major combat operation the reformed Legion has entered into.

Though I came into this book with the high hopes of finding out what the Eternals are doing on Kima, seeing Keel and his suicide squad head back to the Savage Reclaimer, that isn't the focus of this book.

The story is brimming with explosive action, and the writing is as tight as ever, but I'll be honest--I think I'm about sick of Kima, and I'm very much hoping this is wrapped up soon so we can get back to bigger things.

This is an entry into the GE series that will reward the dedicated reader, those who have read through the disparate subseries under the GE umbrella.

Though a mainseries entry, this book reads a lot like one of the Order of the Centurion books. The focal point of the story is a single battle, on a single world, experienced through a viewpoint character that has only been developed secondhand so far, with lots of references to the greater universe packed between dreamy sequences featuring layers of mystery and a returning character from the darkest corner of the Galaxy.

Through the lens of Masters, we get a break from the cavalier adventures of Aizen Keel and put the bucket of a Dark Ops Legionnaire on once more. We see plot points revisited from the beginning of Season 2 and even earlier, though I do admit even just a short interlude of the crew of the Indelible VI would be very welcome, and the absence of such a sequence forms my only salient complaint.

Otherwise, it's an exciting romp through a hostile jungle by the light of blaster bolts, and at times a slow slink through a darklit arcade where lies and mystery lurk in every corner.

If you're like me, you'll be finishing this book at a midnight hour, and crying "more, more, more"!

I bounced off of the Eragon books as a young adult, but Paolini's newest work doesn't fail to impress!

With the overtones of life, and self, and purpose highlighting a unique sci-fi story that isn't shy of action and brutality but also isn't beyond showcasing the gentle majesty of love, of identity, and what it means to be human.

The first two thirds of this book are very political and dialogue heavy. For Cosmere fans, this is easier to chew, but it's somewhat of a turn-off in my opinion. it's worth sticking through for the payoff if it doesn't drive you away though, and the context this book provides is wonderful to have going into Stormlight Archive.

Great for beginners; the more experienced may find it lacking. Check this out if you are new to writing or looking to elevate your craft.

I enjoyed the narrator, he made what was otherwise a textbook interesting to listen to, though I do not believe he is for everyone.
