Very cozy magical book
Revisado: 08-13-24
This is a delightful cozy book read by an incredible narrator. I really enjoyed 90% of it.
The parts that I wasn’t thrilled about was the bits and pieces that obviously were referred to from another book that the author never followed up on, so it was a complete mystery.
For instance, what happened the Margaret’s husband Herb?? I wish the author would not have referred to these things or at least given us an idea of what happened. It leaves you speculating but maybe that’s what the author wants.
Other than that, I really enjoyed this book! I just downloaded the second one in the series and I’m looking forward to listening to it as well! I love magical fantasy and this definitely wets the whistle! 🌙🌕🌙

It is also the story of a rat called Roscuro, who lives in darkness but covets a world filled with light. And it is the story of Miggery Sow, a slow-witted serving girl with a simple, impossible wish. A tale (or tail) of light
Revisado: 07-17-24
What a lovely little story to bring light into such a confused world. A friend suggested I get this title too lighten things up. It certainly did that! Excellent for children and adults alike.
The performance was outstanding! I love it when the narrator disappears into the story and all you experience is the story and not the narrator. This narrator was perfect.
Thank you very much !

Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Couldn’t stop listening!
Revisado: 04-14-24
I had no idea there was a genre of “cozy fantasy” till I discovered the postquel to this novel, “Legends, and Lattes” last year. It was during a challenging time in my life when I needed soothing fantasy, not stimulating. It fit the bill! when I saw that the prequel to that novel came out “ Bookshops & Bonedust” I pronounced on it!
It was not disappointing! It actually was a bit more engrossing than the first novel because of the action involved in it. But it was still cozy. I just finished it and I’m sad that I won’t be spending time with the characters for now.
The narration was almost perfect! Sometimes I had a hard time telling the difference between two of the character because their voices were so similar, but overall it was wonderful.
Bravo! Looking forward to a third novel.

Magical, realism novel to have tea with
Revisado: 08-02-23
This was exactly what I was looking for: a light, sweet listen. The storyline was really predictable, but enchanting. I didn’t find myself wondering what was going to happen next and drawn to listening to it at every moment, but it was entertaining nonetheless.
One of the things that threw me off at the end, (and I don’t wanna spoil it for you) was the completely unrealistic way one of the characters was going to deal with an addiction.
The narrator was very “breathy” which I found annoying at times, but most of the time I enjoyed her. I this book to be quite delightful and enjoyable.

Historia
Tiffany Aching has spent years studying with senior witches, and now she is on her own. As the witch of the Chalk, she performs the bits of witchcraft that aren't sparkly, aren't fun, don't involve any kind of wand, and that people seldom ever hear about: She does the unglamorous work of caring for the needy. But someone - or something - is igniting fear, inculcating dark thoughts and angry murmurs against witches.

I love this series!
Revisado: 07-02-23
This book is another jewel in the crown of the Tiffany Aching series. I found some parts of the book a little hard because of how people were turning on witches at one point, but it all worked out marvelously magical. I love how Tiffany thinks and how she works things out. And of course the Mac Nag Feegles are definitely shows Steelers! They completely cracked me up!
The narrator is top notch, and I adore him! I am searching out more books that he has narrated. Excellent excellent listen that I enjoyed greatly!

Tiffany Aching, the boldest heroine ever to swing a frying pan against the forces of evil, is beginning her apprenticeship in magic. She expects to work hard, learn spells, and become a witch. She doesn't expect to find herself doing chores, caring for the careless, and trying to outthink an ill-tempered nanny goat. There must be more to witchcraft than this!

This is the second book in the Tiffany Aching series and absolutely delightful! I laughed out loud many times and it brightened an otherwise miserable day stuck in the traffic jam from hell. The narrator is full on brilliant! I highly recommend this book! I’m offski to get the third one.

What a fun and delightful romp! Terry Pratchett was a imaginative master of words and this book definitely shares that mastery. The narrator Stephen Briggs made it come alive! He is a master of the spoken word for sure. I found myself smiling and sometimes laughing out loud throughout the book. Off to fetch the second book! 🧹 🧙🏻♀️ 🔮

This was a well written book that I simply loved! I listened as slowly as I could to it, knowing I’d miss the characters and magic once it was over. I like that the author is weaving more people of color into her books. Great narrator too!

Excellent historical fiction
Revisado: 07-01-21
I do love this author! It was definitely a historical novel on the summer before WW1 which sadly enough I didn’t know much about. I do now! This novel spurred me to research it and learn more.
This book was written with attention to detail and the characters were fleshed out with such care I miss them now that it’s over. It wasn’t a story that drug you along but more engaged your intellect and had brilliant issues that are current even now, woven throughout.
I was enchanted by the details and loved this novel. I thought the narrator was outstanding! I enjoyed her immensely and the only thing she struggled with was her American accent but there was only one such character. Looking forward to another novel from Helen!
