Historia
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read.

Boring, juvenile and predictable
Revisado: 03-20-23
This was one of the worst books I listened to in a long time. I don't know where the hype comes from but for me the language was banal and commonplace, story line lacked any suspense and for me it lacked any sophistication.

Interesting psychological profile
Revisado: 07-16-20
This was an interesting read although I had hoped for more political discussion then a personal narrative on the psychology of the Trump family. I felt she wanted to give her father the redemption that he never received. The book builds a picture of how Donald Trump became the man he is today. The last chapter and epilogue are interesting in terms of how she ties her opinions of her psychological insight of him and his current actions.

Why is every film or tv programme a sequel or a remake? Why are people so f***ing hung up about swearing? Why do the asterisks in that sentence make it okay? Why do so many people want to stop other people doing things, and how can they be stopped from stopping them? These and many other questions trouble David Mitchell. Join him on a tour of the absurdities of modern life - from Ryanair to Richard III, Downton Abbey to phone etiquette, UKIP to hot dogs made of cats.

How we choose which foods to eat is growing more complicated by the day, and the straightforward, practical approach of What to Eat has been praised as welcome relief. As Nestle takes us through each supermarket section - produce, dairy, meat, fish - she explains the issues, cutting through foodie jargon and complicated nutrition labels and debunking the misleading health claims made by big food companies. With Nestle as our guide, we are shown how to make wise food choices - and are inspired to eat sensibly and nutritiously.

Rap along with Benjamin Zephaniah to the beat of his unique performance poetry. Hip, zany and streetwise, this is an excellent collection from one of our leading modern poets. The poems are taken mainly from the books Talking Turkeys and Funky Chickens. (The audio versions vary slightly from the written text in Benjamin's books.)

Historia
A razor-sharp thinker offers a new understanding of our post-truth world and explains the American instinct to believe in make-believe, from the Pilgrims to P. T. Barnum to Disneyland to zealots of every stripe...to Donald Trump. In this sweeping, eloquent history of America, Kurt Andersen demonstrates that what's happening in our country today - this strange, post-factual, "fake news" moment we're all living through - is not something entirely new, but rather the ultimate expression of our national character and path.

Good
Revisado: 10-26-17
I thoroughly enjoyed the book overall and felt the author depicted interesting links between political and religious dogma interweaving past present and future. I think where it weakens for me is his application of magical thinking or conspiracy theories towards vaccines and gmo’s. Anderson has a strong sense or belief in Science and rationalism but doesn’t apply the same rationalism that he applies towards religion for instance towards questioning the fallacies or influence of corporate America on our health and well being. He only talks about one paper on vaccines and autism and glazed over gmos as being the answer to feeding a nation in a conducive manner. If you question anything he posits as magical realism it seems that Anderson would put you down as a person who believes in conspiracy theories rather then a rational intelligent being . I for one question pharmaceutical companies, Food lobbyists and corporations that pay big money to put their agenda through to legislation. As the conclusion states, your entitled to your own opinion, not facts.

More philosophical
Revisado: 08-27-17
Overall good but didn't provide concrete information about foods and how they help your body from a nutritional perspective. It was more philosophical and a self help book. The thing I didn't like was the constant advertisements towards his program and how beneficial it is.

Historia
Physician and biochemist Cate Shanahan, MD, examined diets around the world known to help people live longer, healthier lives - diets like the Mediterranean, Okinawa, and Blue Zone - and identified the four common nutritional habits, developed over millennia, that unfailingly produce strong, healthy, intelligent children and active, vital elders generation after generation. These four nutritional strategies - fresh food, fermented and sprouted foods, meat cooked on the bone, and organ meats - form the basis of the Human Diet.

Fantastic
Revisado: 07-04-17
I thought this was a thorough and very thought provoking book on human health. Although it's main focus was vegetable oils and sugar, it touched upon other important components that influence our nutrient consumption from gmo's to the pharmaceutical industry. I especially enjoyed learning about the biochemical processes that occur in our bodies and effect our health and the false claims of other diets .

Thus Spoke Zarathustra is one of the most extraordinary - and important - texts in Western philosophy. It was written by Friedrich Nietzsche between 1883 and 1885. He cast it in the form of a novel in the hope that his urgent message of the 'death of God' and the rise of the superman (Ubermensch) would have greater emotional as well as intellectual impact.

Agonizing
Revisado: 04-21-17
The narrator did a wonderful rendition however the text for me was agonizing. I'm not that familiar with Nietzsche (only read tid bits) and have heard he's better when he writes about music. This narrative was draining. There were moments when it seemed relevant to me but overall I'm just happy I completed it! It was a feat!
