This was such a fun, unique, immersive story. I’ve never read another book about a reality dating show. I loved the entire storyline, I laughed a lot, sobbed deeply at one particularly emotional part (if you’ve ever had to come out to your family, you’ll understand when you get there), smiled like a maniac in some parts, and cheered the MCs on from the jump. I love that the story featured BIPOC lesbians. It’s so rare I see myself represented in lesfic. I’m also from the same area the story takes place so I was connected in almost every way to this book. The narrator did an amazing job and I will be listening to her whenever I see her name. All around great book and audio. Do not sleep on this!

I really enjoyed catching up with Luke, Nora, their children, and friends. I was really excited to start this book and the story itself was touching, sentimental, and gave me the closure I needed after the first book. I bawled my eyes out in a few places because I related so much to the struggle of being a lesbian in a conservative family and community. Luke and Nora are the parents I wish I had when I came to terms with my sexuality. However, the narrator was, once again, highly disappointing. Most voices weren’t bad but she reserved the absolute cringiest, most grating voice for one of the MCs. Rika at times sounded like a Bostonian voiced by someone who had never heard a Boston accent, at times like Forrest Gump, and toward the end, like a poor imitation of a depressed, southern 8 year old boy in a goofy cartoon. The drawing out of the first words of every sentence Rika spoke and the constant hesitation to speak almost made me stop listening but I managed to claw my way through more than 15 HOURS of the most grating voice ever given to a character because the story was worth the torture. I’m not sure how so many people enjoyed this narration but I was certainly not one of them. Read the book. It’s well written, heartwarming, and painfully relatable. Skip 15 hours of needles in your ear drums.

This would have been a solid 5 stars if not for the narrator. This is one of those read, don’t listen books. The narrator isn’t terrible but some of her voices grated my nerves so badly, I had to stop listening and read instead. Brody Cowen’s voice sounded like someone whose nose had been broken whilst they were suffering with a terrible head cold. I’m almost positive the narrator was pinching her nose to create his voice. There wasn’t enough range between the rest of the characters and some inflections were just strange. I also HATED the accent she gave the Native American man. It was cringy to say the least. I’ve heard much worse narrations but the narrator could use some voice acting lessons. Other than that, I am a huge Jae fan so I already knew this book would not disappoint. Some of the language surrounding Native Americans and women bothered me but I just kept reminding myself of the context. Read, don’t listen, if you’re accustomed to well-seasoned narrators.

It’s rare I read/listen to a book that strikes me on such a deep level. Big Swiss was enthralling from start to finish. It never felt like it was trying too hard and made me laugh aloud many times. As a woman in my 30s with a chaotic childhood, lackluster impulse control, and half a decade sunk into therapy sessions with a therapist I know wants to throttle me on occasion, I related too much to this story. I just added a new favorites book as well as favorite author to my list.

The story was well written, funny enough to make me snort and laugh out loud, and sweet. I really enjoyed the fact that bad communication between the MCs was not used as fodder for a formulaic romance. This is definitely worth the read and surprisingly worth the listen. I have avoided as many Lori Prince-narrated books as possible for years now but she’s gotten much better since the last time I listened to her. There were some moments where I found myself grimacing, particularly when a character sounded like she’d never learned to speak to another human before, but overall the narrator sounds like she’s really improving. She still makes some characters uptalk and sound condescending and/or whiny but it’s not nearly as grating as it used to be. This book is well worth the credit.

It’s rare I come across a book with a trope that hasn’t been done to death. I loved the book; the narrator did a fantastic job of giving each character a distinct voice and the author gave us a fresh trope and her writing style is fun and engaging. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and was truly rooting for them. The only thing I found odd was the author trying to make it seem like no one could truly love the character because she’s a ginger with thick thighs. Never in my life have I ever heard of this. Also wasn’t a fan of the author repeatedly bringing up the MCs sliver of native blood but never showing how that sliver impacted her life or was anything other than a token to make the characters seem diverse. The ginger hair and the native blood just seemed like the authors own fets leaking into the story.

It took me a minute to get used to the juxtaposition of Bridge’s profession and her lifestyle but once I did, I kind of fell in love with the idea. I am a long time agnostic so when I realized this series is kind of rooted in Christianity, I almost didn’t listen to the books but the first one reeled me in so I gave this one a go. This book is extra heavy on the religion and I normally immediately stop listening to religious, preachy books but this wasn’t preachy at all and actually opened my mind a bit more. I love the idea of religions that accept people regardless of who they are and this book really gave me a glimpse of that. I loved it.

I loved everything about this book other than the fact that it ended and I listened to it before the second came out. I can’t wait for the second to come out and I hope it’s narrated by the same person because Ann Marie Gideon did a beautiful job.

If you’re looking for hot and heavy, this is the book for you.
Classic boss/secretary age gap story. I really liked the narrator. My only complaint is the southern accent was kind of annoying sometimes. Maybe that’s because I have a southern accent lol it’s easy to overlook though because she’s such a great performer and southern accent is what the story calls for.

This book is in my top 5 favorite books of all time and I’ve read hundreds, if not thousands over my life. I read The Lily and the Crown (more than once) a while ago and periodically checked to see if there was an audiobook for it because I love it so much. I was over the moon when it finally appeared on audible. The audiobook somehow made me love the book more than I already did. Angela Dawe did it justice. If you love lesbians, pirates, and lesbian pirates, this is a fantastic book. If I could give it 10 stars I would.
