Historia
A hundred years in the future, a war wages between the Five Dragons - five families that control the moon's leading industrial companies. Each clan does everything in their power to claw their way to the top of the food chain - marriages of convenience, corporate espionage, kidnapping, and mass assassinations. Through ingenious political manipulation and sheer force of will, Lucas Corta rises from the ashes of corporate defeat and seizes control of the moon. The only person who can stop him is a brilliant lunar lawyer: his sister, Ariel.

Historia
We hide in shadows. Our planet is lost. We are the last humans, and we must go home. Two thousand years ago, aliens destroyed Earth. Our fleets shattered. Billions died. The last humans fled a burning planet, heading to the stars. Today we are still refugees. Hungry. Afraid. Our enemies hunt us everywhere. So we hide. On distant asteroids. In rundown space stations. In deep caves on frozen worlds. And we dream. Of green hills. Blue skies. Golden fields. We dream of Earth. And for the first time, we have hope.

Historia
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead. The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past. But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance. An enemy that is already dead.

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

Historia
Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He isn't as young as he used to be. He drives a Saab. He points at people he doesn't like the look of. He is described by those around his as 'the neighbour from hell'.Every morning he makes his inspection rounds of the local streets. He moves bicycles and checks the contents of recycling bins, even though it's been years since he was fired as Chairman of the Residents' Association in a vicious 'coup d'état'.

Historia
Within days of a series of monster solar storms slamming into earth, electrical grids fail and everything in the northern hemisphere with a computer chip ceases functioning. Electricity won't be completely restored for at least a decade, and the result is that everything modern life depends on to function is gone. Chaco is a well-educated freedom fighter on a death list in El Salvador. Having fled to the United States, he is in hiding by working for a wealthy couple as their handyman and gardener. Following the disaster, he reveals his true identity, and convinces his employers and their neighbors to follow him.

An interesting take on the end of the world
Revisado: 03-18-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is certainly a better rendition on the theme of apocalypse, so referring it to another reader would be something I will do.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Chaco?
For me, the most memorable parts are the actions of Chaco himself under adverse conditions both emotionally, socially and physical. There is at going on here and it would have been easy for the author to shortcut much of this, but she doesn't, and that is important.
Which character – as performed by Chris Abell – was your favorite?
Chaco by far and I felt while many of the others were good, he was just the most normal considering everything.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
en the Star Shines Too Bright
Any additional comments?
This is the first Peggy Wheeler book I have listened to and it was very enjoyable, far more so that I was expecting. I do have a low tolerance for end of the world stories, but this one is an exception. Bravo

Historia
My name is Hope Arden, and you won't know who I am. But we've met before—a thousand times. It started when I was 16 years old. A father forgetting to drive me to school. A mother setting the table for three, not four. A friend who looks at me and sees a stranger. No matter what I do, the words I say, the crimes I commit, you will never remember who I am. That makes my life difficult. It also makes me dangerous. The Sudden Appearance of Hope is a riveting and heartbreaking exploration of identity and existence, about a forgotten girl whose story will stay with you forever.

Historia
In the late 20th century, the streets of Paris are lined with haunted ruins. The Great Magicians' War left a trail of devastation in its wake. The grands magasins have been reduced to piles of debris, Notre-Dame is a burnt-out shell, and the Seine has turned black with ashes and rubble and the remnants of the spells that tore the city apart. But those that survived still retain their irrepressible appetite for novelty and distraction, and the great houses still vie for dominion over France's once-grand capital.

It won an award - BUT -
Revisado: 04-21-16
Would you listen to The House of Shattered Wings again? Why?
I wouldn't listen to it again, but it was certainly interesting the first time. An extravagant trip through another place, in another time with things and people beyond contemporary imagination.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I hated them all; didn't mind the book but I felt everyone was a naff just waiting to be killed.
Which scene was your favorite?
No real favourite b ut the whole book did create bizzarro visions and pictures. Maybe too much as I struggled keeping it all together.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
To Sip an Angels Blood
Any additional comments?
I wrote BUT -- great book, visually stunning, poetic and descriptive and expertly written by an author with a steady hand and a steady mind. Damn easy to get lost and forget what the hell is going on. Deserving of an award? If we are just talking literary offering, yes, indeed.

Historia
Serving aboard the Ananke, an experimental military spacecraft launched by the ruthless organization that rules Earth and its solar system, computer scientist Althea has established an intense emotional bond—not with any of her crewmates, but with the ship’s electronic systems, which speak more deeply to her analytical mind than human feelings do. But when a pair of fugitive terrorists gain access to the Ananke, Althea must draw upon her heart and soul for the strength to defend her beloved ship.

Had its moments
Revisado: 04-21-16
Would you try another book from C. A. Higgins and/or Fiona Hardingham?
I am waiting for a follow up to this, so yes I would try the next one.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It was slow going and needlessly so.
Did Fiona Hardingham do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Fiona did a very good job, she was what made the slowness more bearable
Do you think Lightless needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I hope there is one, as it is incomplete without it.
Any additional comments?
Good work, could have used improvements in pacing, but that shouldn't put off the avid reader. A good story.

McDonald at his best
Revisado: 04-21-16
What did you love best about Luna?
The world building and the strangeness of reality were wonderful
Who was your favorite character and why?
The principle character is brilliant, but there is another girl other might warm to.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There is a nice tone to the voice and it didn't distract by trying tool hard to inject difference in the characters. A good reader can do this.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I never do anything in one sitting; not even great books. But I did enjoy the whole of the book.
Any additional comments?
McDonald has some military SF I don't like, but this is very good sf written well.
