Historia
Technofeudalism says Yanis Varoufakis, is the new power that is reshaping our lives and the world, and is the greatest current threat to the liberal individual, to our efforts to avert climate catastrophe—and to democracy itself. It also lies behind the new geopolitical tensions, especially the New Cold War between the United States and China. Drawing on stories from Greek myth and pop culture, from Homer to Mad Men, Varoufakis explains this revolutionary transformation: how it enslaves our minds, how it rewrites the rules of global power, and, ultimately, what it will take overthrow it.

Fascinating explanation of our present and vision for the future
Revisado: 12-04-24
By writing this book to his late father, the author invests it with a casual, intimate warmth that makes the content a pleasure to listen to.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

Apocalypse with no feeling
Revisado: 01-18-23
A lazily concocted uninteresting look at disaster. Feels like she wants to shock us but there's no suspense till the final few pages so instead of shock this is a slow march through an artificial feeling tale of manufactured woe. A dystopia created using the worst of 1950s American male dominated capitalistic society improbably merged with a biotech future, without any bridging cultural development. Characters that no one cares about. Good narration! My advice--don't bother with this one.

Historia
When a listless office employee (the narrator) meets Tyler Durden, his life begins to take on a strange new dimension. Together they form Fight Club - a secretive underground group sponsoring bloody bare-knuckle boxing matches staged in seedy alleys, vacant warehouses, and dive-bar basements. Fight Club lets ordinary men vent their suppressed rage, and it quickly develops a fanatical following.

After listening to this fantastic book, so original, exciting, and thought provoking, I can't imagine it without this narrator. Masterpiece!
