Not for me
Revisado: 05-28-18
I wanted this book to be amazing. I kept waiting and hoping. But, alas, it missed the mark. At least, it missed my mark. It was slow and choppy. So many sub-stories with so many pertinent secondary characters made it seem unable to really find a single cohesive theme. The chemistry between the two main characters eventually works, but again it was very slow coming. And the ending was highly disappointing for me. Highly. Maybe because it’s “book 1” and there will be additional books, I don’t know. But this was a long audiobook that I for the first time ever, found myself fast forwarding in so many spots I lost count. I don’t feel it was a waste of money, but it certainly wasn’t one my favorite books of this genre.

Historia
Top neurosurgeon Samantha Thomson needs to get married fast and is tightlipped as to why. And with over $200,000 on offer to tie the knot, no questions asked, cash-strapped ER nurse Hayden Perez isn't about to demand answers. The deal is only for a year of marriage, but Hayden's going into it knowing it will be a nightmare. Sam is complicated, rude, kind of cold, and someone Hayden barely tolerates at work, let alone wants to marry. The hardest part is that Hayden has to convince everyone around them that they're madly in love and that racing down the aisle is all they've ever wanted.

Good book but ugh. :)
Revisado: 05-21-18
I enjoyed this book... it was a little lengthy in many parts, especially when addressing secondary characters that were only mildly important to the theme and overall story line. I thought the narrator did a great job. But my gripe, and it may just be a personal preference, was the ending... the author spent so much time with build up that the end seemed forced and rushed. As if the editors were threatening that she had to finish the book so she just said “fine, here”. I didn’t dislike the ending - just felt it was rushed and a little “meh” is all. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the book. It’s not steamy at all so if you’re looking for that, this isn’t the one. But the chemistry was good between the main characters, even if a bit frustrating occasionally. But that means it affected me. So that’s always a good sign.

Historia
Eighteen-year-old Charlee Parker met the love of her life in a parking lot-a leggy brunette with a valedictorian medal hanging from her rear-view mirror and an attitude as biting as a Boston winter. Alexandra Woodson was guarded, a 19-year-old orphan set on a bright future in hospitality administration. She never imagined an art student with a penchant for cheesy pick-up lines and stealing parking spaces would crack her rigid exterior and claim her heart. For four years, theirs was an enviable love - evergreen and growing. Unbreakable... until it broke.

This is one of my favorite audiobooks. I’ve listened to a lot recently and this is in the top 5. I appreciated Charlie’s character best. I occasionally wanted to poke Alex in the eye - lol - but I understand where she’s emotionally coming from. Some people struggle doing what’s best for themselves if it involves hurting someone else. This was an emotional ride. But a good one.

I really enjoyed this book. I like the narrator’s voices and felt the emotions. I loved Jenn’s character - especially when she was baited and realized it. The only downfall - and it almost made me grade it 4 Stars was the ending. I felt like there were parts in the book that could have been shortened, but the ending felt absolutely rushed and incomplete. I felt like there must have been about 5-7 pages missing. But, alas, it is what it is. And overall I really liked the book.

Historia
They say you can't go home again, but Raine St. James doesn't know why anyone would want to. Rory St. James was disowned after she came out at 17. She rebounded by moving to Chicago, changing her name to Raine and putting down her hometown to audiences around the country. Now, 10 years later, too old to be considered a gay youth, broke, evicted, and fresh off a much needed break-up, Raine St. James is forced to accept a job teaching at Bramble University in Darlington, the town she's been publicly bashing for the last decade.

My first Spangler book...
Revisado: 04-30-18
I had no framework to go by so I can’t say if this is a “usual” Spangler work or not. Overall it was pretty good. The plot was well developed but a little slow. I’m a happy ever after kind of girl so I like endings that give me an idea of how things turned out. The narrator’s voice for Beth was a little breathy, making her sometimes sound like Jessica Rabbit or Marilyn Monroe. Otherwise the narration was good.

Historia
Twenty-eight-year-old Brooklyn Campbell is having a bad day. A speeding ticket, a towed car, and a broken heel are all working against her laid-back vibe. To top it all off, her birth mother, whom she's never met, has requested contact. The only bright spot is an impromptu date with a beautiful and mysterious brunette. Jessica Lennox is what you would call a high-powered executive. She's the head of a multimillion-dollar advertising firm in New York City, and it didn't happen by accident.

Historia
Accountant and financial advisor Lacey Chamberlain doesn't consider herself a control freak. She's merely a planner-orderly, neat, and content in her tidy little life. When a marketing firm moves into the empty office next door, the loud-music-playing, stinky-food-ordering, kickball-in-the-hall staff make Lacey crazy. Marketing expert Alicia Wright is spontaneous, flies by the seat of her pants, and lives in the moment-all the things Lacey is not. She's also gorgeous, thoughtful, and seems determined to make Lacey like her. They say opposites attract, but for how long? And is that really a good idea?

Revisado: 01-20-18
Such a looooooooong build up and such a very short wrap up left me a little disappointed. Not my favorite book. The narrator did a good job but I had to listen on 1.25 speed so I didn’t get bored. Seemed like there was just too much air space between words at regular speed.

I have liked some Gerri Hill books, but this one was so slow. It felt like there were too many side stories and then suddenly it wrapped up in the last 10-20 minutes. Just felt forced.
