Great Read…Except for.…
Revisado: 03-26-21
I thought that this was a Great Read! I was totally into it and thought the storyline was different, yet very believable. That is, until I reached the very end. I thought the ending was predictable and, considering that the story spanned three titles, what happened, happened, and everything was over rather quickly. I had a vision of a perfectly tied and neat bow wrapped around it like it was a huge gift or something! There was very little resistance to the final assault. Which, by the way, was carried out on an enemy that had been superior in almost every way for many years. Alas, this superior force was taken down without the loss of a major character from the winning side . The ending was very disappointing for what I considered to have been a very well written series. Too bad…

The world ended four years ago when the zombie virus killed billions. Now, with a vaccine in place, humanity can begin again. Or can it? The Morningstar Strain created two different, equally deadly forms of zombie: the raging, fast sprinters and the relentless, undead shamblers. The sprinters have all but disappeared; the evil humans dedicated to death and chaos have been defeated.

Not too Sure I Like This One…
Revisado: 03-09-21
Some of the characters, even though they were important to the story, were underdeveloped. I still don’t know much about them. It was almost like they just appeared out of nowhere without any history or anything.
It may just be that I was drawn into the series by the writing style of Z. A. Recht and, even though the authors of this book are good writer’s, they just don’t do it for me. I also was not very fond of the ending. The storyline itself was a stretch, but the ending was too quick, too clean, and very predictable.
I ‘m kind of disappointed…🙁

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
Revisado: 03-04-21
When the whole “zombie” genre became popular, I read anything by anybody I could find. When I finished all of the major authors, I started on e-books. Trust me, I’ve read a lot of crap…but I’ve also discovered a few great authors, who are now published, as well.
This series was one of my favorites because I liked the characters and their development. I actually liked the narrator too! I know, I know…a lot of reviews say that the narration was poor. But, hey, to each his own, right?
Onwards…I don’t know how Z.A. Recht did it but After finishing the first book in the series, I was already anxious about the second. Could it have been the style in which it was written? Or, did I simply like the storyline? Maybe it was a combination of both…
In any case, the entertainment alone of this series value is priceless to me. I hope there is more of the same to come!
I’ve just finished book 2 in the series and was somewhat disappointed in it. So, I returned it without giving it a review. I will try book 3 to see if the disappointment is permanent…until next time…happy reading and listening!!!

DEFINITELY NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!
Revisado: 09-17-20
After having been a George Romero fan for many years, I expected this book to be better than it was. I don’t know if it was because of the format it was done in, the performance, or the storyline itself. But, unlike other Romero items, this did not grab my attention and keep it. As a matter of fact, it took me almost a month to get through it and normally, I can go through a couple of, either books or audiobooks in a week or so…two weeks maximum.
But, I had a hard time keeping interested in this one. It was kind of slow in some spots and full of action in others. It also jumped around from storyline to storyline rather quickly and was hard to follow at times.
I don’t know if I would recommend this or not. It doesn’t seem like Romero’s work. And, I simply love all of Romero’s work!

Loved the Story, but........
Revisado: 07-08-18
I’m a loyal fan of The Infected Series; usually, I read the kindle version and up until now I had no issues...
I found the narrator of the story to be lacking in ability to project the emotions of the characters and he simply sounded like he was being paid to read a story. There was excitement where there shouldn’t have been and sometimes sentences, chapters, thoughts, etc. just ended abruptly. There was a scene where he read the sane sentence twice! Mind you, the written words hadn’t changed; the book was well written. The narrator didn’t read the story well. I often had to go back and listen again because some scenes and thoughts of the characters were hard to follow. My advice to the author would be to either narrate his own stories, or have someone that understands his books and characters as well he does, narrate them.
If this had been my first contact with The Infected series, I wouldn’t read/listen to any more in the series.
Maybe, I’ll just stick to the kindle versions! But, hey, like I said: well written (I had already read the kindle version), well thought out, and believable characters…now all that is needed is a new narrator!!! Just one woman’s opinion…

A Surprisingly Great Read!
Revisado: 06-21-18
I had no idea how good this was when I selected it. I had a couple of credits that I had ti use before suspending my account…temporarily. Thus was one of my recommendations . It turned out to be one of the best selections I’ve made! I immediately became engrossed in the story. I empathized with the characters and actually felt what they felt. It felt like I was literally in the story and was experiencing things as the characters did. I can’t wait to get to Book 2 and kind of hoped that there would be a Book 3, 4, etc. to the author: keep writing this series! I am interested in what their next obstacle will be and what/who they will have to face in their fight to survive, retain their humanity and attempt to establish somewhat of a “normal” existence. A+A+A+

Months into the apocalypse, the zombies show no signs of dying, but it's clear everyone in Sunset Park will die without enough food to outlast the undead. Add in the less-than-sociable new neighbors only blocks away, and the hunt for sustenance has come to feel more like a race than a ramble. Sylvie is happy in her new home with the people who've become like family, though she's still working out how to let them into her heart. Eric wants in, and he wants to find his sister, but he can't do both at the same time.

A Superb Read!
Revisado: 06-21-18
At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to “read” this book. I put it on my wishlist…just in case. I wanted to read the first book in the series before I decided.
Well, after reading/listening to book 1, I had to continue and it did not disappoint! I thought this well written and had a great storyline. It just flowed smoothly. I couldn’t put it down! Kudos to the author!! I highly recommend reading this and, in fact, in a couple of months, I will probably read/listen to it again…it’s that good!!

I loved this book!
Revisado: 06-15-18
Based upon this book alone, I consider Rhiannon Frater to be one of the top zombie apocalypse writers in the world today! The storyline is very realistic and the characters well thought out and developed throughout the series. Personally, I read the series first and then listened to the audiobook, which allowed me to pay more attention to the smaller details that I may have missed the first time around. The performance was excellent! I highly recommend this in both its forms…

Frater Does it Again!
Revisado: 06-15-18
Rhiannon Frater does it again with this third and final installment of the “As the World Dies” series. Honestly, I read this series when it first was published, but recently decided to revisit it in audiobook form. I wasn’t disappointed because it was even better the second time around. The performance was as realistic as it could get and I felt like I was there involved in things as they happened. The storyline was very well put together so much so, that I found myself hoping that another series involving the zombie apocalypse, uprising, or similar, would be forthcoming. I haven’t given up hope yet...
