nephew Neil walks back into her life. Instead of the boy she knew 12 years ago, he is now a handsome young man. Soon, he has offered to rebuild her barn in exchange for lodging. But his offer of help and friendship is part of a larger plan that will leave a trail of deception and murder in its wake. Historia
The final novel from a great American storyteller. Donal Cameron is being raised by his grandmother, the cook at the legendary Double W ranch in Ivan Doig's beloved Two Medicine Country of the Montana Rockies, a landscape that gives full rein to an 11-year-old's imagination. But when Gram has to have surgery for "female trouble" in the summer of 1951, all she can think to do is to ship Donal off to her sister in faraway Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Take a tour through the horror paperback novels of two iconic decades...if you dare. Hear shocking plot summaries that invoke devil worship, satanic children, and haunted real estate! Horror author and vintage paperback book collector Grady Hendrix offers killer commentary and witty insight on these trashy thrillers that tried so hard to be the next Exorcist or Rosemary's Baby. Complete with story summaries and artist and author profiles, this unforgettable volume dishes on familiar authors like V. C. Andrews and R. L. Stine, plus many more.

What an excellent way to spend your time in between……
Revisado: 01-09-24
This book is admittedly for those who are avid reader at a bare minimum but probably require those readers who are voracious readers when it comes to dearly loved material. That encompasses historical information regarding said material and those who wrote, edited, and published it in many cases. I love Grady Hendrix’s writing and loved the idea of a journalistic piece written wholly about the Horror paperback genera as it morphed and became something pretty unique & special at its zenith. But as you’ll learn, rollercoasters had nothing on the folks who dared to publish some of these now infamous works. If Horror is in your blood and the term nerd as been used to describe you for any reason in your life, you’ll be entertained at the very least. However, if you can’t get enough of learning about your favorite authors past today? And who & where they partnered up with or became best friends to this day, then read this book.
My only suggestion: I read books suggested in this book and then continued on in this book and so on & so forth. It’s a great book to have to use in your Audible library to use at those perfect times in between appointments or a the kid gymnastics or whatever. This author has an incredible senses of humor and writes with wit that helps keeps the pages turning- quite fast for me!

Full of ADD This is NOT an “included in Your Membership” Podcast as represented as such
Revisado: 10-24-23
Not what I expected at all. First, this was suggested as an “included Member Plus” yet there were hideous advertisements with no warning. They are woven in stupidly and confusingly. So you wind up going back trying to figure out what just happened. If it’s an included podcast why are ads slipped in? I don’t care if you have my famous actors in it or not. I pay plenty for two credits a month and my time was wasted with this program. I have more then 1200 books in my library and I’m getting tired of having “free with Ad” items masthead in front the space I Pay for already. Both Amazon Prime and now Audible ? Keep the” Free With Ad” out of my Paid for areas. Leave them in a category where if I want to choose to explore it I can, Otherwise, NO! I will cancel my accounts if this intrusion doesn’t stop with the slip ad in here and bum bard me with Fire TV, Amazon Prime, and now Audible…..

Historia
As a young boy growing up on the outskirts of Dublin, the stage and screen legend sought refuge in a world of imagination among the fields and hills near his home, at the edge of a rapidly encroaching city. Moving between sensual recollection of childhood in a now almost vanished Ireland and commentary on stardom, the actor-writer returned to Broadway and Audible to reflect on a life’s journey.

Hollywood Park is a remarkable memoir of a tumultuous life. Mikel Jollett was born into one of the country’s most infamous cults and subjected to a childhood filled with poverty, addiction, and emotional abuse. Yet, ultimately, his is a story of fierce love and family loyalty told in a raw, poetic voice that signals the emergence of a uniquely gifted writer.

A book that actually does reflect on reality, and love no matter.
Revisado: 09-27-21
I’m not sure how many have reviewed how vile the prose is in this book. For thousands of years young women have been married at very early ages to older men, so it’s not a new concept. Perhaps it’s the vivid descriptions depicting some sexual situations. But I think the point is actually about the rare a different ways love can manifest and endure. Despite all that works in opposition.
If you’ve grown up in a “proper” and protected life, this prose will shock you. I did not and I’ve been witness to the way love, like a weed, can manage to spout & grow taking root in all the of the most unlikely spaces. No matter the social normative behaviors. The writing is raw & beautiful. Unapologetic. And I love it for those reasons.
The narrator is actually amazing. She is a standout female voice that knows how to perform a story. She is next female George Guidel or Frank Muller.

Historia
John Lithgow has compiled an outstanding collection of memorable poems and has gathered his famous friends to read them. The wide variety of carefully selected poetry in this audiobook provides the perfect introduction to reel in those who are new to poetry, and for poetry lovers to experience beloved verses in a fresh, vivid way. Lithgow offers insightful and sometimes poignant commentary to accompany each poem. His essential criterion is that "each poem's light shines more brightly when read aloud".

Bias: love John Lithgow & Co. & words.
I suppose this is a book with lovely words favored by J. Lithgow with a delightful short history & background for each piece of poetry or spoken word. I was fortunate enough to snag this on 5.00$ sale, but tis worth 1 credit or full price.

Narrator, Actor Paul Sparks & audio quality.
Revisado: 08-05-21
As far as audio (audio levels-engineering) quality being poor or hard to hear in this audiobook, I’ve found none. I listen with headphones (med quality pair ear buds 40$), through home amplifier via Amazon Echo bluetooth, and car sound system via Bluetooth/iPhone. And I’ve found Paul’s voice to be no problem for me. Now there are some very minor audio level changes that are typical in longer audiobooks with many takes. If you experience an issue, I would suggest re-downloading at higher quality perhaps or contact Audible support.
I’ve been an Audible member since 2009 and this new Stephen King put me at 875 plus audiobooks. I have my favorite narrators & have purchased books based on narrators in the past. But SK’s Under The Dome, narrated by Raul Esparza- an actor primarily in plays at the time & an no other narration credits either at that time, taught me a very valuable lesson. No prior narration experience doesn’t mean anything if their talented.
To this day it is among my most favorite audiobooks. He did an amazing job with a huge host of characters. Some may be aware SK is a huge audiobook fan and insists on the best available talent available. Going back to when his children were young and there was a FFA Air Traffic Controller’s strike, he paid his children to read & record books on tape for him to listen to while touring- partly because audiobooks were so hard to find back then or weren’t made at all.
I’ve found this new SK to be a great book. Writer’s age like us and certainly their prose changes in kind. I allow for the author’s I listen to to also grow & change, so I enjoy a bit of a different style through the years. Out of the several thousand books I’ve read thus far, SK has certainly written many of my favorites. Hope you enjoy.
Don’t forget, if your a member, and you can’t live with a particular book, you can exchange them.

Soaring ambition. Unwavering integrity. Billie Joe Armstrong isn’t the first punk to negotiate mainstream success, but he might be its most undisguised example. In Welcome to my Panic, Green Day’s iconic front man holds nothing back as he tracks listeners though his deeply personal and artistic journey in raw detail. Matching his emotional storytelling with new, exclusive, recordings of Green Day’s biggest hits, Armstrong chronicles the seminal moments in his life: the trauma and triumphs that have come to define him.
