Historia
In 2019, veteran journalist Mark Seal began investigating the suspicious death of music mogul Peter Ikin. Just 32 days before he was found dead in his Paris hotel room, Ikin had married a handsome, debonair Frenchman named Alexandre, who would claim to be entitled to his late husband’s fortune. As Seal dug into the case, he had no idea that tracing the incredible life of Alexandre Despallieres would take him from Paris to London to Beverly Hills, and unspool a web of intricate plots and deceptions.

Historia
From Atkins to Dukan, fear of the almighty carb has taken over the diet industry for the past few decades - even the mere mention of a starch-heavy food is enough to trigger an avalanche of shame and longing. But the truth is, carbs are not the enemy. Now, best-selling author John A. McDougall, MD, and his kitchen-savvy wife, Mary, prove that a starch-rich diet can actually help us lose weight, prevent a variety of ills, and even cure common diseases.

Love the simplicity
Revisado: 08-14-24
I am already vegan, and was familiar with the McDougall diet. But listening to this book just makes it even simpler to plan meals. Basically think starch, non starchy veggies, and fruit. Always struggled especially when traveling in countries that don't have vegan restaurants. But having oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, potatoes and salad for lunch, and a veggie soup for dinner seems like something even the most meat-based hotel can manage to serve. And when at home, even on my laziest day, I can manage to cook potatoes and broccoli. Thank you Dr. McDougall and may you rest in peace.

Historia
Yes, Mindy Kaling is the genial Hollywood celebrity who posted twelve selfies from a single Oscar party, but that smile took work. In this hilariously honest essay, Mindy reflects on the social anxiety that she traces back to the slices of white cheese her parents served at her ninth birthday party. Little has changed in thirty years--least of all the fear of being judged forever. It’s probably best to just back away.

Insufferable voice takes away from the story
Revisado: 04-13-23
I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't for this horrendous baby-like voice so many American women are using nowadays.

I really wanted to like this but...
Revisado: 11-13-22
I struggled to finish it because somewhere about a quarter way into the book she changes her reading voice to a rather grating and distracting one. I also expected to learn more about migraine for a book titled so but I found very little information that I didn't already know. Admittedly maybe because I work in healthcare but still...

The only book you need to understand relationships
Revisado: 12-02-21
I found the information extremely useful and true to my experiences in love. Realized that a lot of the problems I have run into were because of attachment issues. The advice offered such as about the importance of good communication is straightforward and easy to apply. I have read a lot of books and listened to a lot of shows about love and relationships and so many seem to contradict each other. This book seems to make so much sense and the reading was so great and made it an easy listen.

Historia
For much of history, philosophers and religious thinkers have believed there are absolute differences between humans and all other living things. Usually, only humans have been thought capable and deserving of moral standing (either as moral agents, who are capable of acting morally, or as moral patients, who are owed moral duties).

Excellent narration
Revisado: 11-23-21
Really enjoyed listening to this and finished it in one sitting. Loved the narrator and also the use of different voices when quoting other philosophers complete with their likely accents. Not preachy at all and presents both sides of the issue as best as possible though I found it hard to truly believe the arguments against pro-animal are coming from an intellectually honest place.
