This isn’t groundbreaking but it’s pretty decent military scifi. If you listen as much as I do it’s a killer value. Michael Naramore does a great job narrating.

Emotional rollercoaster

A lot more emotion in this book versus the previous in the series. There’s been a few slow books in the series but this isn’t one of them. Strap in!

Great character tension

Very good mystery scifi action book. The writer did a great job of keep the origins of characters shrouded keeping you guessing who they are and how it’s relevant. Loved the story and narration was quite good. Look forward to more from him!

Solid Michael Mammay

Just like the Planetside series Michael Mammay makes the story less about the action and for more about the thrill and detective side of the story. Enjoyed just as much as Planetside. Macleod Andrews is always a phenomenal narrator.

Just as good as the last

I can’t say one of the main plot points I like but that’s what makes the story interesting. I miss the female narrator of previous books but it’s still quality narration. The two books started to drag being more about the wars fought and this picks up a little bit of the relationships which I enjoyed. Highly recommend.

Great performance of a poor story

The book started out well with a lot of intrigue but it fails for me on many points:

The science is all over the map and doesn’t seem well thought out

Many of the characters are way too stereotypical and bad cliches like a video game into

Several characters defy themselves with no second thought like earlier actions didn’t happen. I found them unbelievable.

No answers at all are to be learned about any of the characters or the enemies.

Even Ray Porter couldn’t save this book for me and that’s saying a lot.

Slower but solid sci-fi

The author takes a bit more time developing characters but I think it adds a lot. Some stories are action and battle after battle. This isn’t it but has some very original story lines and several great characters. Enjoy!

Fresh story but scientific inaccuracies hurt

The story is fresh for sci-fi. I don’t know of any other similar stories. The author does a great job not setting a central narrator so you never know who the story is really about. About 3/4 into the story a major event a happens that makes absolutely no sense. After this event the entire scientific basis unravels entirely and is very distracting.

The narration is very good with unique voices per character. I’ll be checking out her other works.

Doesn’t get a fair shake

Long story short if this book was written by anyone else it would be heralded a masterpiece. It’s an excellent book with good character development. Rosario Dawson does an awesome job bringing Jazz to life and smoothing her rough edges into a living person. Highly recommend.

It’s got Ray Porter

Do I need anything else? Ray Porter is on the cast (and Emily Woo Zeller)! Seriously the story isn’t quite as good as the first but the production is by far the best I’ve ever heard on audible and I’m over 500 books. Original 8/16 bit music that’s shockingly good, excellent voice acting, sound effects, you really can’t ask for a better audiobook cast.

Plenty more nostalgia and butt kicking in this one! Look forward to the next.
