Historia
When I became a pastor, I made a solemn vow to God: I wouldn’t touch another woman, until I met my destined wife. For three years, I’ve had no trouble keeping that promise. Until my best friend's youngest daughter became my intern. Mariana is everything I shouldn’t crave—free-spirited, unapologetically atheist, and way too young for me. And yet I want her with a fevered obsession, even if it means betraying the trust of my best friend.

This book sucked me in so much. The entire performance was wonderful and made the characters come to life. The last part of the book was so disturbing and uncomfortable that I was enraged for the MC.
Good writing, Great performance, looking forward to the next book.

The Show did it justice
Revisado: 05-04-22
I'm coming into this pretty late so I have already watched the 1st 2 seasons of the Witcher show and played Witcher 3. I already knew that I was going to love the story and the characters because I'm already familiar with them. That being said the show really did the book justice and I was very surprised and happy to see that everything I already loved about the character did not change too much through the transition of book to videogame or book to TV show.
Definitely recommend even if not already a Witcher fan.

Vex and Vax have always been outsiders. A harsh childhood in the elite elven city of Syngorn quickly taught them not to rely on others. Now, freed from the expectations of their exacting father and the scornful eyes of Syngorn’s elves, the cunning hunter and the conning thief have made their own way in the world of Exandria. The twins have traveled far and experienced great hardship. But with the help of Vex’s quick wit and Vax’s quicker dagger, they’ve always kept ahead of trouble. Now, unknown perils await them in the bustling city of Westruun.

I have in the last 6 months gotten into Critical Role, so I am not very well versed on everything at the moment. That being said listening to this was such a treat. It was well done and super fun to listen to.
Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good story whether you like Critical Role, are a long time Critter, or just want a new favorite.

Great Story, too much sex
Revisado: 11-27-21
I was very upset with this book, because in the beginning it presented such an interesting back story and I was instantly hooked. However, everything got worse from there. What started out as an amazing fantasy oriented world with different types of people and lords and interesting curses and blessings, turned into basically a porno. Now I'm not a prude any sense, and I've listened to plenty of good stories that have included sex scenes even ones that I have included a lot of sex scenes, But the author took it way too far making it a majority of the story story. This was super upsetting because the the story is actually good and has a lot of potential but definitely needs to have like half of it removed.
The best example that I can give to a book similar to this, but that did it better is A Court of Silver Flames. This is the 4th book in a series and all of the books have sex scenes within them. This book in particular took it to another level including a lot of very hot and heavy scenes, however it did it in such a way as to include it as part of the tension but not take away from the main story.
I hope this helps somebody out and hopefully this author comes out with a series that is a little more balanced.

Had to stop
Revisado: 09-13-21
There are so many books and stories in this world that at some point one has to admit that a story is just not worth your time. Unfortunately this is one of those stories.
I was excited by the notion of a Harry Potter and Twilight combo, but around 30% through the book I started to wonder if this terrible whining was going to go on for the whole book. I have no problem with an annoying character, as long as in the end they grow and change bit by bit with experience and time. When reading some of the other books, specifically Sara J Mass' Court series, you can see this type of character, young and inexperienced, blossom into a person you want to hear about. This is not what apparently happens.
Supposedly Edan just stays the extremely whiny and very privileged girl that she is even through some grave challenges. Normally I would stick it out and listen to the books anyways just to get my own take on the series, but when others are reporting in book 5 that she is still the same type of person in book one I had to call it and move onto something else.
If you enjoy the series, thats great, but I will sit this one out.
P.S. Voice actress was good, hafta give credit where credit is due and she was not half bad.

I freaking looooooooove these books.
Honestly if you have not listened to the first one but and interested in trying, listen to the first chapter of The Lightning Struck Heart and you will know whether or not you will like the books.
But in all honesty Gary will BRING THE PAIN if you do not love and adore everything he has to say in these books...... and Tiggy will cry.

Very Good
Revisado: 08-25-21
I have been basically sitting on this book for a while, when I found out that it was going on the catalogue. So, I decided to start listening. I'm not sure why people have decided that they hate this version of the book purely because of the narrator, but their hate seems ridiculous to me. Will doesn't do a bad job. I've heard waaaaaaaay worse voice actors and his performance is nothing to be complaining about. Yes, it is kinda confusing when he switches characters but does not change his voice for said character, but again there are a TON of books out there with good voice actors who can't do that.
I think he did a good job and threw a little personality into the book. My advice, don't be so anal.

Sam of Wilds faced the Dark wizard Myrin and lived to tell the tale. Granted, the battle left him scarred, but things could be a hell of a lot worse. It’s not until he reunites with Morgan of Shadows and Randall that he realizes just how much worse things could be. Because the scars have meaning and hint at Myrin’s true plans for Sam and the Kingdom of Verania. With time running out, Sam and his band of merry misfits must travel to the snowy mountains in the North and the heart of the Dark Woods to convince the remaining dragons to stand against Myrin.
