I wish I could remember the name of the Canadian folk singer who informed: "if you were born in North America, you've already won the lottery".
As challenging and stressful as we think our lives are (often self-imposed) Neel Mukherjee's' characters teach us that their lives are beyond their own control, steeped in slowly eroding traditions. No matter how horrible our lives seem at times, most of us are able to avoid being the dancing bear.....at least so far......

Too many self-help books are filled with ridiculous ideas about spiritual quests or existential esoteric eclipses of self-examination. Mark Manson offers an opportunity for an assessment of our own real values, not those imposed upon us by accepted norms.
By learning how to not give a fuck about external values, we can deeply attune our lives to what really matters to us most in our very short existence.
I highly recommend this work for anyone at a crossroads of any kind in life’s most rewarding journeys.
