Great L’Amour tale of the west .
Revisado: 01-05-25
Great story and I like Scott brick as well . However I feel that they have missed the mark on this one. Scott is great at tech thrillers , like for instance Jurassic Park on audio wouldn’t be the same without him as the narrator . But I feel Scott’s voice isn’t that of Bendigo shafter . Just my opinion and I might be alone , but I feel that sometimes Scott is to shrill or screechy. The story itself is great and I like several characters who are recycled from other La’mour stories like Webb and Ethan and yurwishi , if you’re a avid reader of La’mour’s stories you’ll know what I mean , different characters but they are the same kinds of men . If you’re new to La’mour you won’t be disappointed in this one. Having read pretty much everything he ever wrote or own on audiobook , there are none that I can think of that I out and out dislike . Just some are better than others. As a stand alone novel this is top 10 I’d say . This is also a expanded story and the characters originally appeared in the short story war party , which was published in pulp magazines either under a different pen name or different title or both. The short story is good too and I’d recommend it as well , or anything La’mour is worth checking out.

Great story
Revisado: 06-12-19
Well it’s a great little novel , one of his more romantic stories and the movie 1991 staring Sam Elliot and kathrine Ross is one of the few times where the movie and the book are almost completely in sync. Jason cult has read many Louis La’mour stories and does a great job, however he wouldn’t have been my choice for Conagher. Nonetheless it is a great way to pass the time. And worth a credit.

The Deep
Revisado: 05-31-19
Let me say that for 33 years I had only seen the movie adaption 1977 ?, and the 2003 or 2004? Adaption
( into the blue ) both movies are pretty good.
It’s really overall a good book, I just got biases over the ending of the book vs the movie/ movies . Benchley did a good job for the most part I like the dog and the twist with coffin and Kevin comes across well and it’s a shame that Benchley rushed the ending of this story and it made for a rushed ending for the movie as well . The Derp is a great treasure story and I have loved it since I was a little boy. Bottom line I gave it 4 stars overall due to the rushed last few chapters, also the narrator is okay and his version of treece is pretty good but some of the other characters is difficult the 1st time around to identify whom is speaking.
If you like the movies and or treasure stories, or sea adventures, I’d say that you probably won’t return this book.

Willis Lander was once the T-Bar ranch's best bronc buster. Then came the day when a stallion as black as pitch and as mean as a rattler shattered his knee. Unable to perform the duties required of a cowboy, Willis took the only job he felt capable of handling - minding the line shack 40 miles from the ranch - and secluded himself from the pity of his peers in the Wyoming wilderness. Now, the T-Bar is being sold, leaving Willis to wonder whether the new owner will want to keep a broken bronc buster on the payroll.

Read this one when it came out and a couple times since , so when I saw it available in audiobook it was a no brainer . Not going to give any spoilers, but buy it . I only give the story 4 stars and not the full 5 because I feel that the ending is slightly rushed. But still a great story, if they ever get
by the horns in audiobook I recommend it as well same author/ co author and funny thing I feel it’s ending was rushed too.

Glorious Glorious
Revisado: 12-02-18
Great mix of narrators, never had a La’mour short stories collection with multiple narrators, I think they hit a home run both performance wise and the intro openings to the stories were great additions. I had read yondering years before and I didn’t appreciate the stories for what they were. I can say that the audio format was better than reading them myself. And that as a man in my 30s I appreciate these stories more than in my 20s and will certainly be keeping this one. I used the title for one of his stories as the title to this review not because of the story itself but because this collection of stories simply is Glorious. My all time favorite that’s not one of his westerns , yet still is a western is The Haunted Mesa and I have been waiting for years for them to create it in an audiobook, fingers crossed that the mention of it in this review will be felt by the La’mour family and audible , as a clue we want it in audio format. Owe and Bendigo Shafter as well , thanks and I hope this review was helpful.

Historia
The poems of the Poetic Edda have waited a long time for a modern English translation that would do them justice. Here it is at last (Odin be praised!) and well worth the wait. These amazing texts from a 13th-century Icelandic manuscript are of huge historical, mythological, and literary importance, containing the lion's share of information that survives today about the gods and heroes of pre-Christian Scandinavians, their unique vision of the beginning and end of the world, etc.

Sometimes the professor just doesn’t sound good on a recording.
Revisado: 11-21-18
Wonderful information that I have not been able to find elsewhere, along with the classic better known stories. Professor Crawford is knowledgeable and the translation is modern and well done. His voice is just noticeably lacking something that another reviewer called distracting and I agree .otherwise it’s a great update to important text regarding our ancestors and the little we know that was saved from the Christian conquest of Europe .
If you are new to Asatru or however you identify with our Norse gods and goddesses this might not be the best choice to start with but is still in the required reading list in my opinion. Hail the Aesir and Vanir! , Hail our holy folk !

Good but feminism much?
Revisado: 10-31-18
Love the Vikings, love the performance and the full cast was great. The overall story was good but seemed like a lot of a woman who hated her father and then she kills every single man she ever has loved just set in the Viking age . Then the story just stops. Like this review.

Historia
The Vikings were exceptional boat builders, seafarers, adventures, and explorers. They not only raided and attacked settlements across Europe and Britain, but they also sailed far and wide, discovering and colonizing new lands. Their impact on history is far-reaching and the mark that they made on the world, especially during the Viking Age, can still be seen today. In this audiobook, you will learn about the world that shaped Leif Erikson and made him into an adventurous man who was not afraid to sail into the unknown to discover new lands.

Really good and informative and I will keep it , but it seemed to me that it had about 20 minuets of really saying the same thing over again and again. All in all a good informative lecture on the man who should be celebrated instead of Columbus.

One solution: a Dubai royal prince is building the largest aquarium in the world and seeks to purchase two of the "runts". Wanted to love this book so so bad
Revisado: 07-01-18
Well I listened to the whole story and the one before it . Let me say the 1st 2 books are really good and can be listened to multiple times and you can still enjoy them. Not so much in my opinion with the 3rd and now the 4th books. I returned book 3 as it was , well lacking something that the 1st 2 has . 3 seemed like MR Alten was depressed and the story was depressing. ( book 4 this book) well it starts off alright and it’s exciting new monsters from the deep , a new place besides the Mariana Trench all cool then it becomes predictable and I hate that Mac is a drunk in the last 2 books I thought that they killed off angel too easily, I new David’s girlfriend was going to be killed about 40 minuets before it happened (I don’t know how I just did) and I guess I was hoping this book would redeem book 3 , with the movie finally coming out I was giddy it has been around a year since I listened to book 3 and I think 4 is better than 3 but probably not worth my monthly credit as I prefer books I will listen to multiple times. As of writing this review I am undecided as to weather I am going to return this book or not.
