Perfect for fans of The Keeper of Lost Things and The Villa in Italy. Blue lives a charmed life. From her family's townhouse in Richmond, she lives a life of luxury and couldn't want for anything - well, on the surface at least. Then, on the night of her 21st birthday, her father makes a startling toast: he will give his daughter's hand to whichever man can capture her heart best in the form of a love letter. But Blue has other ideas, and, unwilling to play at her father's bewildering games, she sets out on her own path to find her own destiny....

I will no longer read historical novels by this author
Revisado: 12-20-24
The whole plot with midge is waaaaay out of context for the time period of this novel. I loved Tracy’s Little house by the sea and the Little Christmas House, but this book was a complete mess in comparison. The storyline seemed completely implausible, especially for the 1920’s. Super disappointed.

Not a light book
Revisado: 04-01-24
This book appeared on a list of feel good listens by goodreads, I was expecting a light story with a happy ending. The characters were self absorbed and there is a rape that is central to the storyline. It wasn’t worth a credit.

Good story, not totally predictable, left you wondering afterwards what happened in different storylines, could easily become a series.

His name is Matthew Walker, and he's come to spend the summer on the Cape with his parents. Why? Well, he wants to meet you before he heads off to college in the fall. Bleh meandering meaningless
Revisado: 11-11-23
I have liked this author in the past, but really did not like this book. Most of the time I was trying to figure out the point of the story. As an adoptive mother and someone who has helped others find birth parents, I thought the subject matter would be interesting. It was not. The characters were self absorbed, the storyline meandered around. Another reviewer said this was too woke. By this, random pieces of storyline were thrown in that really did a disservice to what maybe should have been the main storyline, with unrealistic outcomes. Having personal experience with family members with addiction, borderline personality disorder and adoption, none of these topics were portrayed in any way near reality with trite resolutions. Skip this one.

Good story, but was frustrated by some plot inconsistencies
Revisado: 01-21-23
The overall story was engaging. But I was often frustrated either by Julieta’s complete lack of thinking things through as well as a couple of the plot lines that didn’t completely tie out. I can’t give examples without revealing spoilers on the story. I do not regret listening to the story, but it also wasn’t a best read ever.

Historia
Sean was a seventh-grade drop-out, a dishwasher then a construction worker to help his mother and sister scrape by, and a self-described "nobody with a sad story behind him." Yet he cannot deny the glimmers of life's goodness even amid its rough edges. Such goodness becomes even harder to deny when Sean meets the love of his life at a fried chicken church potluck, and harder still when his lifelong love of storytelling leads him to stages across the southeast, where he is known and loved as "Sean of the South."

Great story of personal discovery
Revisado: 12-20-22
Discovered Shawn of the South when I purchased The Incredible Winston Browne on an audible sale. He is a superb storyteller and this autobiography is no exception. He is the best author/narrator I’ve listened to on Audible. The depth of the story in dealing with pain, loss and grief, yet in a humorous and uplifting style. Super authentic and the world needs more stories told like this. Look forward to reading more stories from him in the future!

Historia
Folks in Moab live for ice cream socials, baseball, and the local paper’s weekly gossip column. Sheriff Winston Browne has watched over Moab with a generous eye for a decade, and by now he’s used to handling the daily dramas that keep life interesting for Moab’s quirky residents. But just after Winston receives some terrible, life-altering news, a seemingly mute runaway with no clear origin arrives in Moab. The residents do what they believe is right and take her in - until two suspicious strangers arrive and begin looking for her.

Revisado: 07-20-22
The story is interesting and narration phenomenal. I will definitely be adding more title from this author well developed characters. I usually like longer books, but bought this on a two for one sale and am so glad I tried it, my favorite listen this year.

I have really liked Emily Marches novels, but they really need a new narrator. At times the intonation is totally wrong, it gets annoying.
