Getting somewhere!
Revisado: 11-11-23
So far this book has been my favorite out of the series. The story line has been a slow build up. But this book is now keeping me coming back for more! I hope it just keeps getting better and better.

Devotion tells the inspirational story of the U.S. Navy’s most famous aviation duo, Lieutenant Tom Hudner and Ensign Jesse Brown, and the Marines they fought to defend. A white New Englander from the country-club scene, Tom passed up Harvard to fly fighters for his country. An African American sharecropper’s son from Mississippi, Jesse became the navy’s first Black carrier pilot, defending a nation that wouldn’t even serve him in a bar.

Written in so much detail. The narrator did a great job of letting me establish my own feelings about each character. You can't go wrong with this author.

Slow book
Revisado: 01-02-23
I struggled getting into this book. It was slow for me and the author used way too many metaphors. The writing style was not my favorite and I got tired of the main character saying over and over "Gat, my Gat". The narrator didn't know how to shift their voice from one character to the other without it sounding terrible. I pushed myself through it and felt zero emotion at the end because I never got attached to any of the characters as there was no true character development. Anyways. Wouldn't recommend.

The entire book had me intrigued. I was so heart broken at times. This book brought me to tears. The narrator did a fabulous job and the history had me researching this orphanage. Excellent read

The narrator ruined this book
Revisado: 02-08-22
I honestly think this could have been a really good book but the narrator ruined it for me. His voice was cringy and monotone the whole time. He chopped sentences up and I had a hard time focusing on the story line. The story line was good but I there were too many things that didn't do it for me. For Steven being a millionaire with all sorts of security it made no sense he would leave a laptop behind with auto fill passwords in a vacant apartment for Richard to find. When Emily left for the funeral she left her son (whom she never leaves) with a guy she hasn't seen in 6 years? Lastly the love story made zero sense. What millionaire would go to those lengths over someone who he's only gone on a couple of dates with? Just too many elements of the book were unbelievable.

Revisado: 01-26-22
I loved loved this book. Only reason I gave it 4 starts is that it was extremely slow and boring for me the first half. I almost gave up on it once or twice. Glad I didn't and that I kept reading!

This book left me thinking non stop about it
Revisado: 01-20-22
This is definitely a psychological thriller, complete with a monster of a husband. I found myself frustrated on trying to out think the husband yet never could. You never knew what was going to happen next as there was one thing after another. I must be naïve because I was shocked he could get away with as much as he did. Just made me think that there is probably more of this kind of stuff that goes on that we don't see. It's a book that makes you stop and think.

Total RomCom book
Revisado: 01-20-22
Lighthearted, fun, young romance book. It was cute and had a cute story line. Fairly predictable and didn't require a lot of concentration to read it. It made me smile and also had a few little twists I wasn't expecting. A fun read for sure!
