Historia
For a decade, Darrow led a revolution against the corrupt color-coded Society. Now, outlawed by the very Republic he founded, he wages a rogue war on Mercury in hopes that he can still salvage the dream of Eo. Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile, has returned to the Core. Determined to bring peace back to mankind at the edge of his sword, he must overcome or unite the treacherous Gold families of the Core and face down Darrow over the skies of war-torn Mercury. But theirs are not the only fates hanging in the balance.

New narrators, chaotic volume detract from the perfection of the story.
Revisado: 02-07-24
The story continues to evolve and just gets better with each installment. Tim Gerard Reynolds voices a reliably excellent Darrow, but I found it hard to stay as engaged with the audio version because the volume level was chaotic and the new narrators for Lyria and Lysander pale in comparison to the previous ones. It’s always a little jarring when narrators are switched partway through a series, but one can generally get used to the change. In this case, I found myself longing for the old voices until the end of the book.

Historia
In the 1970s, more than a million young people moved to farms and communes all over the US. There was a war on, and they wanted no part of it. This is a book about those days and one of those communes, told by Peter Gould, one of Vermont's master storytellers, known for decades to fans of Burnt Toast, Gould & Stearns, A Peasant of El Salvador, and Write Naked.

Like inviting Peter into my living room!
Revisado: 09-05-23
What a delight to hear one of my favorite books, delivered in the way I first experienced it - read by the author, and accompanied by the occasional few bars on the concertina. I enjoyed this version thoroughly, with new material and a thoughtful, modern view on the evolution of the back to the land movement in Vermont, and its contribution to life here in the state as we experience it today. As a next generation back to the lander, I can’t express how many parallels, a-ha! moments, chuckles, groans, and heavy sighs I expressed throughout. Through spoken word, I traveled Peter’s path with him and empathize, perhaps more than most, with the struggles and successes he and his comrades experienced as they took up the old ways. Highly recommended for fans of Vermont, modern homesteaders, communal living-curious, living historians, and pretty much everyone else. A fine listen, indeed.
