This is not the first time I’ve listened to books in this series. The performance is good. But it irks me every time she says the cat's name. It’s not mo-ki. It’s moh-chee. OK, it’s got an ''e' at the end. But it should still be pronounced like the sweet Hawaiian treat. Cringe worthy.

Any additional comments?

These are pleasant stories, well read. But, while I understand some occasional mispronunciations, you’d think something as important to the geographical area of the book as Mackinac Island and the bridge would warrant some instruction as to how to pronounce the word, Mackinac. I’m only part way through and wonder how many more times I’m going to have to yell, “Mackinaw” at my car radio.

Where does Working Stiff rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is OK - I'm still listening to the series. I'd really like it, though, if the reader had read through her material and looked up words she didn't know to find out how to pronounce them.

Any additional comments?

The reader's voice is great for this book - easy to listen to. But she's clueless when it comes to some words. She should know to look up the pronunciation of words for which she does not know the meaning to learn how to pronounce them. Examples: She pronounced (in at least two books) the word "cache" as if it were "cachet." "Cacophony" was "cack - a - FOE - nee." And I'm really getting tired of hearing HIPAA spelled out rather than pronounced "hip - puh." Lots more; those are just the most egregious.

Would you try another book from Mary Marks and/or Dara Rosenberg?

Yes to Mary Marks. I would totally avoid any book by this narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the character development and concise but clear scene descriptions.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yuck! First of all, this squeaky little teenie bopper comes on trying to be the voice of a 55-year old. OK, that happens frequently no matter how much it detracts from a book. But this narrator doesn't know some basic words. Corpse of Engineers??? It wouldn't have been so bad except that the CORPS of Engineers comes up in this story a lot. I was driving while listening and wanted to smash my speakers! Totally ruined this book for me.

Was Knot in My Backyard worth the listening time?

No. The story is all right, but the time listening to it was wasted.

Any additional comments?

Don't waste your money on the audio version. I did and now will have to buy a kindle copy.
