Historia
Racer McKay is a broody bastard. From the moment I met him, he's been rude, irritable, and unbearable. And worse? He's broke. A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder. Racer McKay is also infuriatingly...sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time.

male narrator is horrible, read it instead
Revisado: 05-11-24
male narrator makes Racers speaking voice sound like a male version of Janice from Friends, it's that bad. I didn't listen to the reviews because I thought there was no way he'd use that ridiculous voice in this book that he assigned to him in the previous book, boy was I wrong. Nobody wants to listen to a male lead that sounds like Steve Urkel! I can't believe this made it to publication, he needs to redo this for free or the author needs to get it redone or just pull it.
I'll never be able to see Racer as anything else then this now and he wasn't my favorite to start with. while I didn't love him i didn't hate him either but there are some things he went to far on and goes from funny but embarrassing to down right obnoxious and humiliating. Glad this audiobook was free but now I have no desire to even start the last book in this series

Bailey Followhill is the perfect daughter. Sweet. Charitable. Pretty. Control freak. Not a hair out of place, not an inch out of line, she is everything her troublemaking sister Daria isn't. But when her A game turns out to be a lukewarm C- at Juilliard, Bailey's picture-ready life starts fraying faster than the worn satin ribbons of her pointe shoes. She's becoming a piece of gossip. The troubled child. A drug abuser. No longer the girl her best friend once knew.

loved the narrators, probably would have rated it lower if not for them. while I didn't absolutely hate this book I didn't love it either. some very cringe parts but I'm used to that with this author but it still wasn't her worst.

Kresley Cole never disappoints that's for sure! I can't begin to go into all the emotions this book put me through but I'm so happy to have finally gotten to listen to the end this series deserves. Kresley did an epic job as always as did Emma with the narration!

quick but great with wonderful narration
Revisado: 04-19-23
wasn't much of a "love" story but it was a cute one. I did think she goes from one guy to the next way to quickly regardless of how her ex is and the new man is but that's why I gave it 4 stars

Historia
As a boy, Elias learned the hard way what happens when you don’t heed the old tales. Nine years after his lack of superstition got his father killed, he’s grown into a young man of piety, with a deep reverence for the hallowed sea and her fickle favor. As stories of the fisherman’s son who has managed to escape the most deadly of storms spreads from port to port, his devotion to the myths and creeds has given him the reputation of the luckiest bastard to sail the Narrows.

vengeance turns to love
Revisado: 02-07-23
I loved this book, especially the second half! I have a big soft spot for harpies, organ stealing ones like Blythe are the best, enemies to lovers and multiple battles to the death. Thankfully this book has them all! If you're into mutilation and pain as foreplay this book is definitely right up your alley. No judgment here 😏
When these two were announced as the next book couple I knew it would be a wild ride, Gena did not disappoint! How do you not just get over but fall in love with the man responsible for taking the life of your consort in front of you and your daughter Isla? I honestly went into this wondering if Gena could pull off the impossible after she backed herself into a corner like that in the previous books. I never should have doubted her!
I really loved how a lot of this book made me feel like I was stepping right back into The Lords Of The Underworld series with all the harpies and their messed up harpy games and psychotic turn ons 🤣 Who doesn't love some murder and mayhem before you get it on with your man, am I right or am I right?
I can't wait for the next book and the couple in it! It's going to be a long awaited on and I can't freaking wait! Hopefully one day we also see what Isla grows up to be and maybe just maybe she will meet the children, Urban and Ever, from the very first book couple that started us on this wonderfully amazing wild ride in The Darkest Night 🌙 ❤️

Revisado: 03-13-22
I was given an audiobook ARC from the author for a honest review. Let me start by saying you definitely want to read/listen to the first book, Business of Blood, before this one as it builds off the first book and will give away a lot of spoilers if you read them out of order. Also if you listen to them the narrator from book one does not do book two and there is also a male narrator for this book as it was done in duet fashion. While I like the narrators in other audiobooks and love duet style books I have to say it took me a bit to get into them listening to this one as I just finished the first last month and we go from a female narrator with the Irish accent to one with none at all and I was really looking forward to all the accents again.
As for the story itself, well I didn't get into it as much as book one. I understand that the Author is making sure to portray the women who were victims of Jack The Ripper and others in this series as more than just their profession, that they wouldn't be in that line of work if there wasn't a market for it made by the men and that they're just as much human as the rest of us. However, this book felt like it was mainly focused on that and Fiona's virginity alone. There was barley any action or mystery really until the very end. It felt like 50% or more was just Fiona and other female characters hating on men and thinking or talking about how the woman were treated versus how they should be treated. Overall this book just came off as very preachy and man hating. The author could have gotten her point across, and did, with a fifth of what was written.
There's also the fact that several men are after Fiona's virginity and while I like a book to keep you guessing I'm more for the h picking one H and focusing on that. But that's just personal preference and I am definitely going to listen to book three because of that ending! I just hope it's more focused on the mystery/murders instead of the job professions of woman and how others perceive them. All in all I give it two stars and hope book three will be a five star for me.

lady oh no, says oh yes to this book!
Revisado: 02-01-22
Labors of Hercules? Check! Monster mash up? Check! Groundhogs day? Check! A hilarious murderous love story between a beast and her consort? Checkmate!
Ophelia is what all woman want to be. A sexy lusty lady for her man and a force to be reckoned with when it comes to defending her family. I loved seeing her grow into accepting both sides of herself instead of trying to tamp down parts of her she didn't like and believed nobody else would either. Didn't hurt that she had a sexy beef cake with a chub club waiting for her every morning 😉
Halo is an ice cold warrior who slowly melted after meeting his hot fiery female that he was destined to kill over and over. What's a little brutal murder between bedmates, am I right? Every couple has issues they need to overcome!
I simply love the world's and characters that Gena brings to life. From the world building to the character development there's no one better! I can't wait for the next installment of The Rise of The Warlords and the journey it takes us on. If you haven't read The Warlord, the first in this spinoff series from her Lords of the Underworld series, I highly recommend you do so yesterday!
