Historia
Cameron Post feels a mix of guilt and relief when her parents die in a car accident. Their deaths mean they will never learn the truth she eventually comes to - that she's gay. Orphaned, Cameron comes to live with her old-fashioned grandmother and ultraconservative aunt Ruth. When she’s eventually outed, her aunt sends her to God’s Promise, a religious conversion camp that is supposed to “cure” her homosexuality. At the camp, Cameron comes face to face with the cost of denying her true identity.

The story was good. Wish I had not done the Audible version. When a book is recorded, is there no one in the room to make sure words are being pronounced correctly? Good Lord, this was FULL of mispronunciations and the way this narrator decided to say “ubiquitous” will haunt my nightmares.

Omg this narrator
Revisado: 06-09-23
I just keep wanting to scream. I have never heard such bizarre and completely wrong pacing in my life. It’s like the narrator is putting commas everywhere. Her interpretation of the main male character sounds exactly like one of the women in the Schwety Balls SNL sketch. The story is a perfectly fine summer read. I don’t recommend reading this via an audio book.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Great story
Revisado: 05-19-20
Such a great story, made even more wonderful by the epilogue. My only complaint was the reading of it was very stilted, as if the reader were adding a lot of extra commas, and it was distracting. I think if I had read this in book form it would be fives all around. .

Historia
In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites listeners into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her - from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work to her time spent at the world's most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it - in her own words and on her own terms.

Loved
Revisado: 04-24-19
The amount of class, maturity, sense, intelligence, respect, and hope we’ve lost as a nation in the past two and a half years is appalling. This read is an excruciating reminder of all of it. I will not give in to despair, which I found to be the best reminder and advice given from this gracious lady. Loved the personality and backgrounds and inside peeks at so much, but respect that there was a lot she kept private still. An excellent memoir.
