My Soul Needed This Book
Revisado: 08-30-24
This book is what my soul needed! When the world feels mean and dark it’s beautiful when a book can remind you it doesn’t have to be. The writing is beautifully descriptive and immerses you in the plot. I am in love with all of the magical creatures that co-starred and made cameos. For an introvert book lover like me it’s sweet to listen to a story where the protagonist cherishes books as much as myself, but also realizes there is so much outside of books the world can offer. I listened to the audiobook and look forward to listening again and again 💜🌱🌵🥰

Borrows from other stories
Revisado: 08-27-24
Overall I enjoyed this book but was disappointed that I guessed part of the mystery by the sixth chapter because it is remarkably similar to a popular tv show mystery. Also, it says it’s a full cast reading but it honestly sounds like one person reading the entire time. Either way I finished it in a few days because it was engaging and I was hoping I’d be proven wrong about who dunnit.***spoilers ahead***
***************************************************************************************************************************************
This is a good mystery with an impossibly smart imbecile leading the investigation. Pippa is so frustrating with her lack of self preservation going into so many dangerous situations alone! Teen fiction can be quite irritating when so many problems could be solved by telling a friend or family member what’s going on. I was disappointed by how similar this was to season one of Veronica Mars! I know this was written in 2019 but the way they write about marijuana is very 1950s. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it, but it often felt very, “How do you do, fellow kids?” For a smart kid Pippa doesn’t seem to be very familiar with Google. Also, teens haven’t really used facebook for a very long time. I feel like the author is catfishing us about her actual age.

Historia
All she wanted to do was live her life in peace—maybe get a cat, expand the family spice farm. Really, anything that didn't involve going on an adventure where an orc might rip her face off. But they say the Goddess has favorite, and if so, Cin is clearly not one of them... After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all Fallon wants to do is kill an evil witch enslaving his people. And, who can blame him? But he's dragging Cinnamon along for the ride. On the bright side, at least he keeps burning off his shirt.

Women of color love fantasy too!
Revisado: 07-11-24
I needed this book after being disappointed in lackluster Eurocentric fairy books that booktok raves about. Thank you Kimberly Lemming for this refreshing, funny and very spicy 🌶️ fantasy read! I love that this book is very black coded. Women of color love fantasy too!! Cinnamon is the best main character I’ve read in a while and after just two paragraphs I want her to be my best friend. I love the magical realm she lives it gives cozy shire energy. And of course a book whose heroine is named after a spice is super spicy in all the best ways! This is the perfect mix of rom-com fantasy spicy adventures and I highly recommend!

Stories you think about for days
Revisado: 03-24-24
This book was excellent! My entire bookclub agreed that this is one of the best books we’ve ever read together. These characters are wonderfully written and in just a few pages you feel you know them entirely. I am so happy I stumbled across this treasure of a find! The characters are so relatable that if you haven’t experienced what the characters are describing you surely know someone who has! I can’t wait to read more from this author!

This fast-paced, mile-a-minute look behind the scenes of living the so-called glamorous life in Manhattan now takes firm aim at life at home.

Love the daddy stories
Revisado: 05-23-23
I love the daddy stories Andy shared in this book. I took 1 star off because hearing a millionaire complain about the cost of a fancy meal in NYC is quite annoying. Other than that, I continue to enjoy his stories. It’s a fun read!

Modern Mexican Mythology
Revisado: 02-01-23
Growing up I always wanted to learn about Mexican Mythology. In school we always learned about Greek Mythology but never had the chance to explore beyond that. This book grants me that wish and I was very excited to listen to it! I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, although some parts were a bit slow, hence the four stars, but altogether it shined bright just like the protagonist Casiopea.

Sweet Book for the Lunar New Year
Revisado: 01-31-23
This story is very sweet and a perfect read for the Lunar New Year! It’s an endearing love story of not just lovers but love of family, culture and traditions. I appreciate listening to a good tale whilst also learning about about other cultures. The voice performance wasn’t the best for some characters but luckily they did not appear in the story enough to be too bothersome. Overall a fun book and good listen!
