A deep dive into truffles that will definitely make me a better, more informed consumer. The profiles of the dogs (not pigs) used to hunt for them kept a smile on my face throughout.

Historia
In The End Is Always Near, Dan Carlin looks at questions and historical events that force us to consider what sounds like fantasy; that we might suffer the same fate that all previous eras did. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore? The questions themselves are both philosophical and like something out of The Twilight Zone.

All of the energy of the podcasts
Revisado: 10-31-19
As a fan of the podcasts I was concerned that the energy of that unscripted format would not translate to the word-perfect format of an audiobook. So glad I was wrong. Every bit of Dan’s enthusiasm comes thru.

Historia
We humans like to think of ourselves as highly evolved creatures. But if we are supposedly evolution's greatest creation, why do we have such bad knees? Why do we catch head colds so often - 200 times more often than a dog does? How come our wrists have so many useless bones? And are we really supposed to swallow and breathe through the same narrow tube? Surely there's been some kind of mistake. As professor of biology Nathan H. Lents explains in Human Errors, our evolutionary history is nothing if not a litany of mistakes, each more entertaining and enlightening than the last.

This was an amusing haunt until the last hour or so when it turned a little political. Still worth the credit, though.

What did you like best about Set for Life? What did you like least?
This is great information for those who are early on in their careers. For those of us who bought into the old advice and have been operating on that for a couple of decades, it's too late.

Historia
Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google are the four most influential companies on the planet. Just about everyone thinks they know how they got there. Just about everyone is wrong. For all that's been written about the Four over the last two decades, no one has captured their power and staggering success as insightfully as Scott Galloway. Instead of buying the myths these companies broadcast, Galloway asks fundamental questions.

There are a lot of good things to think about here, but there is an anti-trend that runs throughout the book. Great things youth know about, not necessarily to agree with.

It's an anthology, and ultimately the editor makes the call for what goes in and what stays in the cutting floor. Best just to say the editor and I were not in perfect agreement.

Historia
Facebook, PayPal, Alibaba, Uber - these seemingly disparate companies have upended entire industries by harnessing a single phenomenon: the platform business model. Platform Revolution delivers the first comprehensive analysis of how platforms use technology to match producers and consumers in a multisided marketplace, unlocking hidden resources and creating new forms of value. When a company like Uber connects drivers with passengers, everybody wins - except traditional cab companies, which are scrambling to survive.

Revisado: 11-01-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The tactics seem great for lawyers, but not a lot to transfer to the business world.
What was most disappointing about Gerry Spence’s story?
He states that there is carry over to the business world, but it just doesn't transfer.
Have you listened to any of Gerry Spence’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
In the past there has been knowledge transfer to the business world...not this time.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Mr. Spence is a great orator and carries this audiobook.
