Historia
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom. As internal political strife and a clash of cultures lead to seemingly inevitable conflict, Blackthorne’s loyalty and strength of character are tested by both passion and loss.

The text is a brilliantly constructed and fascinating story, artfully and skillfully brought to life by the performer.

Historia
Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution now forms the basis for all the life sciences, but it ignited widespread controversy upon its 1859 publication. The idea that humans and animals might have evolved from a common source came as a shock to readers at the time, and people struggle with the implications of Darwin’s theory to this day. But Darwin foresaw this resistance and argued his case with extensive examples and rigorous logic - and his theory continues to push us toward a deeper understanding of life on Earth.

Clarity
Revisado: 05-30-24
Clarity of meaning of the written word in the narrator's verbal tone. Never a moment of confusion or vagueness for the listener, despite the complexity of the material.

Richard Armitage is phenomenal
Revisado: 04-19-21
There were subtleties to the narration, sensitivities in the storytelling that brought each character to life in unexpected ways. I'm going to start searching by narrator instead of author.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

A brilliant cast in ensemble

It was like having old friends tell a story I knew well, but hadn't heard in decades. Near perfect.
