The beautiful art on the cover and the title of the book got my interest. A new Gretchen Rubin always has my interest since I often find nuggets of truth that are helpful reminders for me. This time fewer nuggets since I already take time to notice and appreciate my surroundings. I am grateful she shared her concern for her eye site which is what sparked her interest in writing her latest book. I too am near sited so it is important information.
The author decides to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art everyday for her research on this book, she said it could be anywhere that you go everyday to notice things with all your senses. I’m not sure I agree with that and I’d love to be able to go to The Met everyday so maybe I have a little bit of envy on that topic since I love to wander around a museum by myself.
If you keep your head down and don’t notice the beauty in our world you need to read Life in Five Senses.

I love the stories that show how relatable Ann Patchett is and how as a reader, it connects with me. The friendship with Suki that was sparked by a beautiful jacket is beautifully described. Suki’s personality and talents are inspiring as are Ann’s words that remind me we all have stories to tell. You’ll enjoy storytelling at its best in These Precious Days.

I love her spirit, courage and of course her creativity. I’ve got to find a Betsy dress or any item really so I can smile and be inspired. What an amazing life. So glad she wrote a book and that I stumbled upon it on audible.

Somewhere I didn’t think I needed this book, I was wrong. Atlas of the Heart is just what I needed to read to help me better understand my self and the people I love and teach. The book is full of little nuggets of truth that will help you have better relationships with yourself, your friends and your family. I picture Brown at the Titan Atlas as she creates the map we need to navigate with love and kindness for all. Read it.

Shelly Tygielski is the cheerleader and self-advocate in your corner. Her inspirational memoir, Sit Down to Rise Up, guides us with love through essential self-care, which can blossom and build a community of care that will help us change our world.

Shelly shares her secret of showing up, the foundation for life’s purpose. She tells of her struggles and challenges and how she is an unlikely meditator. If you are feeling lost or in the dark, Shelley has literally been there. Her stories and struggles provide seeds of wisdom that help us to connect and to cultivate a community that will help us with our own self-care. I want to find more joy in my life and this book has helped me get there. Sit Down to Rise Up, has helped me zero in on what I need now and not be afraid to ask for help and create a community of care. She explains how the mutual aid idea of Pandemic of Love began and how we can rise up and help ourselves heal from trauma.

Glad I chose the audiobook because listening to Shelly felt like a caring sister and friend was talking to me. This book is the medicine and inspiration I needed to focus on my self-care.

I savored this book and didn’t want it to end. Like any good book the story took me to a places and one important stop is therapy with Dan. I love Chelsea Handlers honesty. Her struggles and successes have meaning for me. I connected and learned about myself, who knew?! Yes, she loves her dogs and it’s beautiful to hear her talk about them. Yes, Chelsea Handler is funny but she also wicked smart. 🧡

When I finished listening to The Art of Memoir, I felt sad it was over. I savored it during my morning walks & felt I was privy to a much needed university course taught by Mary Karr. This is more than a book about writing, it's about honesty and hard work - I'm inspired to do many things, including writing.
Thank you Mary Karr✌️💜📚
