Slow paced.
Revisado: 07-19-16
I like Alan Furst stories for the historical backgrounds portrayed. However, I found this story to be pretty dull. I quit listening to it several times, but finally decided to slog through it. Done.

Narrator spoils the story.
Revisado: 06-30-16
Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors. I buy everything of his that I find. So, I had high hopes of enjoyment when I purchased this audiobook. BI could not listen past chapter 6.
The narrator's voice seemed inappropriate from the beginning, but I kept listening thinking she was setting a mood in the first chapters. It didn't get better for me. Her style is plodding. I din't know of any of her others works, so I don't know if this is typical or simply how she interpreted the story. My impression is that she's reading with more concern for her performance than telling the story as the author intended.
I wish I had listened to a sample before buying this. I suppose I'll now buy the ebook and read the story for myself. And, I'll listen to samples of this narrator in the future before buying to see if this performance is an anomaly.

Seven weeks ago, a young American woman, Amanda Pym, faced down hijackers on board a flight to the Middle East and saved the lives of more than two hundred passengers. In a blaze of celebrity, she stepped off the plane in Damascus and was whisked away in a waiting car. Since then, NOTHING. The CIA believes she was kidnapped and murdered. Reader disappointing
Revisado: 10-29-15
The reader's portrayal of Mrs. Pollifax's voice was too young--unbelievable and distracting. Other characters were well done.
