But it took me awhile to get into the story and all the different characters.
Lots of twist and turns with the end a surprise but very disappointing.

I am a 60 yr old woman that LOVES the Harry Potter books. I have binged the audio book narrated by Jim Dale every year since I purchased. Jim Dale did an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING job at narration and I enjoyed it each time so thought I was probably wasting $ to buy the same book just with a different narrator. BUT I am only on chapter 4 and thoroughly enjoying Stephen Fry's version too. It is almost like I am hearing it all new which is SO MUCH FUN! Will probably buy them all again so this years binge will be with Stephen Fry.
I know I am crazy.... but crazy is fun!

While I loved the premise of the story and her unusual roommates, I could have done with more character development and a WHOLE lot less description of their bodies and the sexual portion. The rest I enjoyed tremendously but ended up fast forwarding thru the last half of the book quite a bit to get to the meat of the story. Guess this is why I usually stick to murder mysteries and cozy mysteries.

I like cozy mysteries and the investigation portion. There was WAY TOO MUCH distractions with all the flirting that didn't add value to the story line.

Too many deaths

I normally prefer to listen to male narrators. However, I found Scott Brick difficult to listen too. The high points of the story seem so anti climatic, and I can't quite figure out which issue created this feeling for me.
- the narrator
- the characters not being fully developed or acting out of character for their position.
- the massive amount of descriptions for everything.
- odd romantic connections

The story had all the makings of an interesting plot... but I was just thankful when it was over.
I do like murder mysteries but this story had WAY TOO many deaths and especially the animals :-(

Depressing

At the 1/2 way mark.... and have to stop. The negativity of the book at this point is just too overwhelming. Will go find a light book to cleanse my palette and try for the other 1/2 on a later day when I can handle more. I normally like Strike and Robins interactions but they are way off base right now.
Finished and it did get better. Like many others commented I could have done without the Fairy Queen.

Pink vomit

I rarely can't finish a book.. But got to Ch.15 and just couldn't anymore. The preview clicked all my boxes for a good book to read and started with a great premise. As someone who loves MONK and throw in a little psychic and I was primed.
But just couldn't with the story line by Ch15. I tried 5x to continue and just couldn't past the stupidity of they way she treated an employer and her sappy comments.

Flashback Overload

Good concept and good narration. However, it was a slow start and every time I thought the book was going to dive into the mystery with her "gift" there would be a flashback to her childhood that seemed to have little to no reference to the case or the current situation (all negative). And even the flashbacks didn't seem to be in order so I really struggled to follow. Hoped for a STRONG woman to emerge that owned her gift and helped others but that never really happened.

Surprise ending

Intriguing story line with a surprise ending. Characters well developed. Narration was good.
Enjoyed it very much and don't want to say much more as to not give anything away.

Enjoyed it so much I went to look for more by Nan Fischer and got no results.
