Some of the narrators were excellent and the story is timesless. I’m not Christian but this is a wonderfully done allagory.

Ever hear the story about the bodyguard who falls for the rock star? Yeah, it never ends well. Each day I remind myself that it's my job to protect Stone. And nowhere in the job description does it say I should lust after the charismatic, charming man. Especially since we're opposites. But every night I spend with him the dangerous, off-limits attraction grows more intense. Until one night in a limo when we combust.

I really enjoyed this book. A very seamless and enjoyable romance with plenty of sexy times. A little light on the plot but as always Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton nail their performances.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Amazing book. Great performance.
Revisado: 05-05-23
The entire Harry Potter series holds itself as one of the greatest fantasy series ever written and as the book that started it all this one will always have a special place in my heart. Jim Dales performance is very good but I don’t like the way he leaves the T off at the end of Voldemort and and some of his acting choices I’m not a fan of. Other then that though he’s excellent.

Revisado: 02-22-23
An awesome and fittingly epic conclusion to the Wax and Wayne part of the story. Also there was so much cosmere stuff in here it was insane, in a good way. I laughed and thrilled and also cried like a baby. As always Michael Kramer is excellent!

As usual Scott Lynch tells a riveting story and Michael Page gives it the justice it deserves. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next one. There were multiple times were I couldn’t stop laughing or grinning during this book and I hope that continues. I also can’t wait uncover more behind the mysteries of Lock, the Eldrin and what lies in the darkness.

Enjoyable but a bit plodding
Revisado: 12-29-22
I enjoyed the story for the most part and the magic was interesting but it felt too convoluted and yet still not clear on how it works or why some people have more power then other. Also Robyn and Edward don’t feel like they would fall in love with each other naturally. It felt a bit forced. The audio work was decent but a bit to acted for my taste.

Thank god it’s over.
Revisado: 09-12-22
Please note there are spoilers in this review but I have marked where they begin. Also I apologize for the length of this review but I really needed to get this out.
I really wanted to like this book, I really did. I was hoping after the second book that TJ Klune was off his whole police are evil kick. Do police need reform - yes, could that have been integrated into the story in a natural way without coming across as pushy and preachy in all the worst ways - yes. Did TJ Klune fail misrably at this - yes. Yes he did. I had to struggle to get through this book and not just because of the ridiculously OTT social justice elements (I mean seriously just look at X-Men If you need a basic template about how to incorporate persecution flawlessly into a superhero story). Also what the hell is with the vilification of Aaron Bell? He’s actually one of the most likable characters in the series and thanks to one slip up he had right after his wife was brutally murdered he’s now the personification of evil as far as TJ Klune is concerned. There’s a version of this story that’s written before George Floyd was killed and I’m dying to read that one because the first book was actually really decent.
But I also struggled with Nick who may be one of the most annoying protagonist ever written. His evolution is slow and painful and reading his quips are like pulling teeth. To be fair it may partly be because of Michae Lesley’s voice acting (which I hated - although that may just be me, other people seemed to like it) but also Giby and Jazz are written as female goddesses when they clearly are not. Instead of being great three dimensional characters they’re just ridiculous woman whom Nick worships the ground they walk on because - they talk big with nothing to back it up I guess. There are so many fantastic strong female characters out there and Giby and Jazz are definitely NOT one of them. There’s a throw away line about penis’s that Giby makes that feeds right into the whole idiotic “penis’s are gross” theme that someone like TJ Klune should be above.
I will say this. The plot point around Nicks mom was intriguing and to avoid spoilers it was one of the few things done well in this book.
Overall considering the incredible “House on the cerulean sea” and “Under the whispering door” which are incredible, heartwarming and feature a phenomenal cast of three dimensional characters, this series was such a swing and a miss it’s hard to believe it’s from the same author.
SPOILERS FROM HERE
As for the villains aka Simon, Patricia and Owen Burke the less said the better. Simon was about as classically evil overlord as it gets and Owen had the perfect redemption arc right there waiting for him and instead he LITERALLY becomes evil for evils sake. I swear to god if you told me that the same person wrote this book and the House on the Cerulean Sea I wouldn’t believe you. At least Owens ending was tragic in a good way. Patricia could easily have become a redeemable character after pretending to be Nicks mom for so long but clearly TJ Klune just wanted villains straight out of a fifties comic book.
Now to focus on the little good that there was. Miss Conduct was great and I loved her relationship with Chris. Also Seth and Nicks relationship was pretty well done and Seth was one of the only decent character’s in this series. The part where Nicks dad was teaching him about enemas was both touching and hilarious and unlike other reviewers I actually really enjoyed it.
The second half become more bearable but the end was as predictable as it could possibly be and the only good thing I can say is that it’s actually over. The epilogue was sweet and I actually chuckled at the villian.
I will happily read TJ Klunes next book so long as it doesn’t involve cops, Nicholas Bell or Superheroes, because this was painful.
Also the cover art for the audiobook to quote Nick “sucks ass”. It looks like it was drawn by a toddler.
