Historia
The world's oldest celebration comes to life in The End of Summer: Thirteen Tales of Halloween, an anthology that honors the darkest and strangest night of the year. Each story is designed to be intrinsically and intimately about Halloween - its traditions, its myths, and its effects - and they run the gamut from horrifying to heartbreaking. Demons are faced, death is defied, and love is tested. And not everyone makes it out alive. The End of Summer has arrived.

Historia
It’s 1929 and an aging Dr. John Watson, conscious of his imminent demise, finally sits down to write a fresh chronicle disclosing the true events behind his published accounts of Sherlock Holmes’s exploits. In these pages, Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart companion encounter reanimated corpses in Highgate Cemetery; a very different, though ever elusive, Irene Adler; tales of madness and murder in the frozen wastes of the north; grotesque organic machines; and much more.

Excellent narration, poorly written.
Revisado: 07-19-24
This book consists of several tenuously linked stories that had very little to do with highgate, outside of a small scene in the first chapter, and a small mention of highgate in the last. The stories are poorly thought out, and seemed phoned in, as if the writer was not really interested in the subject. Of course this malaise in his writing changed when the author could not refrain from injecting his MODERN WOKE ideals into what is essentially a Victorian story. I think this says more about the authors priorities to a political agenda, than his craft as a writer. He inserted this idiology through a juvenile preaching of perversion as normal, and acceptable. The author attempted attacking a Victorian doctor's written works, because they diagnosed degenerate behavior, as degenerate behavior. He also tried to shame victorian society, and modern society by default, for rejecting perverse degeneracy as normal acceptable behavior. In addition, the author also tries to elevate this perverse ideology by drafting the protagonist "Holms" to his cause, he writes Sherlock Holms as being accepting of this degenerate behavior, as if he were a modern day virtue signaling poser, rather than a Victorian man, that had spent his life fighting degenerate behavior in all it's guises.

Historia
When you first enter The Halloween Store, things seem normal. Fun and frightful decorations, ghastly costumes and masks of the season, and bags of candy galore. Then, as you travel farther into its shadowy depths, things begin to change. The air smells of damp autumn leaves and candle-scorched pumpkin. The shelves of All Hallows’ Eve fare grow darker and more disturbing. Strange and unsettling things of Halloweens past and present lurk amid the cobwebs and dust....

excellent nostalgic Halloween memories
Revisado: 09-16-23
This is a great one for those like me, who miss the carefree halloweens we remember from our childhood. Halloweens when kids were free to roam the neighborhood with friends, trick or treating without parents in tow, and without the worries that accompany Halloween today. Well written, and narrated. A joy to losten to.

fun but very predictable
Revisado: 08-15-23
I know the main character is supposed to be a clueless lazy slacker, but the listener may not be. A little effort in trying to surprise the listener rather than be so predictable would be appreciated. At least none of the characters ar constantly crying like the last story.

Historia
Lloyd Wallace has been through a lot these past few months. He's stopped the zombie apocalypse, fought off demonic possession by the deadly sin of sloth, and helped the grim reaper get his job back. All he wants is to retreat to his oasis—Okay, so it's not an oasis. It's his childhood bedroom, in his parents' house, but still—to rest and recharge. Easy, right? Nope. First, he finds a mysterious hamster with a terrible attitude and sharp teeth in his closet. Then his manager—a salty, foul-mouthed hard-partying cockroach—moves in with him.

very much like an earlier book in the series, way too much crying. This time the angel character rather than the grim reaper is constantly crying. after a while it just grated on my nerves.

Historia
It doesn't take long for DeeDee, Lloyd, and Kevin to figure out that living with the angel of death isn't easy. Lost souls. Angry exes. Ancient curses. Will the grim reaper ever get his afterlife together? The outlook is not so good. The reaper isn't the only angel who's out of sorts. Lloyd's devilish boss Faust hasn't been the same since a tentacle monster spit him out of an alternate dimension, and his ex-girlfriend tried to start the zombie apocalypse. And Angel eight ball? He's having a hell of a time juggling a terrible new boss and saving Lloyd from eternal damnation.

Historia
It’s Halloween night, 1984, in Coventry, Massachusetts, and two families are unraveling. Up and down the street, horrifying secrets are being revealed, and all the while, mixed in with the trick-or-treaters of all ages, four children who do not belong are walking door to door, merging with the kids of Parmenter Road. Children in vintage costumes with faded, eerie makeup. They seem terrified, and beg the neighborhood kids to hide them away, to keep them safe from The Cunning Man.

The enemy unknowingly opened a portal to the Netherworld, and our world’s only wizard somehow managed to close it. Unfortunately, something got through. Something big. A dragon. Now Kaz Wolfe, with help from his dog Duke who is channeling the spirit of a wizard from ancient Babylon, and with no help from Azib the Cowardly Genie, must find the dragon before someone gets a cellphone video of the thing, and the world learns that magic is real. I usually like Craig Alanson's books
Revisado: 07-24-23
Typically Craig Alanson is better with his research. There are quite a few errors in the info in this series of books.
When mr Alanson talks firearms, he makes several really BIG errors. Example: one character (Isabel) has a "hunting rifle in 300 millimeter magnum". 300 millimeters is far larger than the size of the cannon on an Abrams main battle tank. A 300 Winchester magnum does exist, and is a 30 caliber (7.62 millimeter) rifle round. 7 and a half millimeters is a lot smaller tham 300 millimeters. Also a 45 ACP Glock, or Sig, may be considered a pretty big diameter by some. However it would be very difficult to hurt ones wrist discharging it since a 45 ACP has a very moderate managable recoil. I could understand the sentiment, if he was shooting a large 45 caliber revolver (hand cannon) chambered in 454 casull or larger. Glock and Sig Saur do not chamber these very powerful cartridges, semi auto Glocks and Sigs are not tough enough to handle those pressures. Oh, and you don't need a permit, license, or registration to possess a firearm (a constitutional right doesn't require paperwork) in the vast majority of the United States. So please stop commenting weather or not a person has a permit for the firearms legally in their posession. Yes even the maim protagonists (kas) can have a firearm. He may be in hidind, but he has not been convicted of any felony. The only places in the United States that require permits are those very violent cities and states run by one political party that exasperates and promotes lawlessness so prevalent in those areas. A little less than half of the United States allow concealed carry without having a carry concealed permit. Long arms (rifles, shotguns) and handguns, can typically be transported in a automobile in the vast majority of states without any type of paperwork (permit), as long as they are not loaded, or concealed on ones person in those states that still require a concealed carry permit.
Also Mr. Alanson, please refrain on making political comments on history and historical figures. Especially when those people and situations have been politicised in a controversial way. It shows you lean toward political correctness (politcally ignorant revisionist history) that could have a backlash on your success.
I would also like to suggest that Mr. Alanson refrain from using identical expressions that he has used in other book series. For example: "break it bown barney style". When stories from a different series, written by the same author, with similar banter, is narrated by the same voice actor. The use of the same expressions, causes distraction that takes away from the story. A bit lazy.
