Historia
As Chhun and his fellow Legion Adjudicators work to uncover the buried secrets of the time called the Troubles, the rest of the galaxy isn't just standing still. Organizations both inside and outside of the Republic make moves to prepare for their futures. Planets build their own independent defense forces. Power brokers and criminal cartels arise with personal armadas. The Repub Navy seeks to prove itself just as capable even without the Legion. Piracy blooms.

Revisado: 03-29-25
A incoherent mish-mash of acronyms and military terms with no plot to justify them.
Rather than just spewing this nonsense, resurrect the Nomad series and lets have follow on to "The Best of Us".

Starts slow, but then...
Revisado: 10-23-24
This one starts slow, but really picks up halfway through. The narration isn't bad, but I still miss R. C. Bray.

The Merry Band of Pirates stopped the enemy from stealing a Sentinel, and destroyed its Elder starship, so why weren’t the Pirates planning a victory party? The enemy was not what they thought it was. It was much, much worse.

too much blah, blah, blah
Revisado: 10-03-24
Quite a twist, but the story could be tighter by removing a lot of the blah, blah, blah.
The narration was excellent, as always.

Historia
The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains. But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

Historia
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

blah, blah, blah
Revisado: 01-22-24
R. C. Bray was great as always. The story was 12 hours of blah, blah, blah, rehash, and Skippy psychotherapy. And about an hour of moving the plot forward. I will get the next in the series, but hopefully it is tighter than this ones.

Historia
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

A little too much blah, blah, blah
Revisado: 01-01-23
For the first 80% of the book there was too much banter between Skippy and everyone else. The story did not move much. The last 20% was much better. As always the narration was excellent.

Historia
"I'm going to die a hundred years before I was born...." The handwritten note was in a dusty trunk that sat in a cave untouched for 150 years. What did the words mean? When journalist Ray Burton finds the trunk near the Arizona ghost town of Hollow Rock, his life changes in an instant. Something in the trunk shouldn’t be there. This begins a dangerous journey of discovery bordering on the impossible. A discovery that will affect the past, the present, and the future.

Stilted performance degrades the experience

A good concept, but the flat, staccato narration detracts from the story. "Three more words" for the review.

The narration is like a grandmother reading a story to her 5 year old grandchildren. I never set the sleep timer for more than 5 minutes because I knew I would be put to sleep by then.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

An engaging story with believable characters. And, it is made that much better by the fantastic narration of Ray Porter. I would probably listen to Ray Porter read ads from the weekly shopper. He is that good.
