I grew up with a crush on Thomas Magnum and have not watched any of Selleck's movies or shows since. Waiting an extra three months for the audiobook to come out was worth it. Tom Selleck reading appliance manuals would be thrilling to me - that voice is fabulous. Deeper and more gravelled than the voice I remembered from the 1980s, but still gorgeous.

You Never Know is entertaining and interesting. I didn't realize what a serious actor Selleck was and is, and yet he does still seem to be the come-what-may man he played on Magnum, sizing up circumstances and making the most of opportunities. Really enjoyed his fun stories about opportunities working with other stars and he delivers enough about his private life without giving away confidences. He never gossips and it's refreshing that he knows and tells us names of people who were integral to his career and whose names most would have forgotten if they even knew the names. He seems like a sincerely gracious man of integrity, not claiming to be perfect, but having high ideals and keeping his eyes on them. A lot of his stories in this book are designed to give insight into who and what made the man, honoring his parents and other mentors along the way. Many great life lessons are told here if you're paying attention.

I hope Selleck has time to write another memoir and record it. I would buy it in a second. What a treasure he is to this little slice of time we get to live in. Now off to watch some of his other work, and re-watch Magnum, with more context!

I wanted to like this book more. Love the author and the premise of this story is good. The performance is mostly good but one voice, which is of a character trying to mask their voice, is painful to listen to. Some dialogue in the story can be painful to listen to/read as well.

I don't regret listening to this one. And happy to support this author. Just not his strongest offering. I did like the author talking at the end. That was interesting and informative.

I bought this for an entertaining, low intensity way to spend a few drives in the car. It is entertaining and low intensity. What lost stars for it was the excessive language and what seemed like a forced ending. Like the author hit some pre-decided word count and just decided to end the story. The language served its purpose to a point - Maxine should be somewhat foul mouthed - but midway through the book it felt like either the author was trying to make a personal point (the point itself is not clear) or that the author was getting tired of writing and decided to add words by repeating the same strong cuss words. Maybe use description and other words to build the mood rather than repetition of the same foul language.

At the end of the book, I regretted spending the time listening to it.

Exceeded my expectations in every way. Sinise is one of the good guys in show business who uses his fame and money to help others.

When I read or write a story, I ask two questions: Is it interesting? Is it important? Grateful American is both, and is written and recorded (read by Sinise) with excellence. Don’t miss this. You will be better for having read it.

Great history well told! Was reading the book and decided to get the audiobook for a trip I was taking. The narration was wonderful and the British voice perfect.

While I agree with others that the narration feels slow at first, I quickly appreciated the pace as this is not light reading. The narration gives you time to soak it in a little more. If you like it faster, turning the speed up a little helps.

The book itself is one that I wish everyone had read before the jabs came out. So many have said they wish they knew this information before they took the shot. You cannot have informed consent without this information.

I pray people read this book and make informed decisions going forward. African friends have confirmed the information in the chapters that accurately explain how Fauci and his cronies have made the continent their dumping ground for bad meds for decades. So much in this book makes the wacky events of the last two years make sense.

I read this for a book club pick and wasn’t impressed. Mediocre writing. The author does have good creativity at times and the story could have been great with better writing. Lots of passive voice writing and romance-type lusty stuff. The narrator was very good and made the book more enjoyable, but it felt super slow in parts. I listened to the second half (which was much better than the first) at 2x speed and enjoyed listening more than at normal speed.

Not a horrible read, but not anywhere close to a great book.

Chuck Colson lived an extraordinary life. Not because of his fascinating and hard-won climb to the inner sanctum of the Nixon White House, nor because of his scandalous and sudden fall brought on by layers of deception and insecurity and lust for power. His story is notable because instead of blaming others for his mistakes, he owned up to his wrongdoing and turned away from that life of deception and hypocrisy. And because of that, he was able to start a prison ministry program that has changed millions of lives for the better. Those childrens' gift requests you pluck off of trees and wreaths to purchase for needy children during the holidays? Prison Fellowship started that program decades ago, to help the children of men and women living incarcerated during the holidays. Prison Fellowship has helped countless people turn their lives around both in and out of prison. And this is the spellbinding story of its founder.

We try to read the Newbery medalists and finalists each year, and this was one we were able to catch on audiobook while traveling. What a sweet story, it held my middle schoolers' attention and mine as well. Excellent performance by Frankie Corzo. I hope to read more from Meg Medina - who also endears herself to you as the shy, fledgling author many of us imagine ourselves to be. Keep on writing!

New All-Time Favorite Reading of a Classic

There isn't much left to say about the book - the only people I know who didn't like it were those who didn't read it. Beautiful story of relationships, love, redemption, jealousy, vanity, and of course, pride and prejudice. Even though I know the story doesn't change just because I'm reading it again, Jane Austen thrills readers endlessly as we wait to see what Darcy will say, and how Elizabeth will respond. Somehow, this story never gets old.

What makes this version stand out is Rosamund Pike's passionate storytelling. I didn't see the movie version she was in, but may have to now. Her narration is everything a reading should be - well-paced, precise, full of emotion, and she does a wonderful job with bringing different voices and personality to each character. Outstanding.
