This book was aimed at women but made me want to be a better man.

I would suggest this book for anyone seeking to love their partner and be loved in return. I would suggest this book to those newlyweds and those married for 50 years. I would also suggest reading this if you ever plan on getting married from either side of the isle. If this is what you want in a mate. I would suggest living these principals first.

Historia
As far from explored space as any human has ever been, Geary and the Alliance fleet are on their own, protecting a diplomatic mission in territory belonging to an alien species with still-unknown motives. His already complex and dangerous mission is further imperiled by deadly challenges from other human factions seeking to harm or exploit the aliens. When another alien species whose technology is far more advanced than humanity’s arrives, the stakes are raised to the highest possible level.

Historia
Geary knows that some political factions in the Alliance were just trying to get rid of him when he was assigned to escort a diplomatic and scientific mission to the far reaches of humanity's expansion into the galaxy . . . and beyond. But he views his mission as both a duty and an opportunity to make things better wherever he can. And when a crippled Rift Federation ship tumbles out of jump space, Geary leaps into action. But the survivors' story isn't completely adding up. As Geary investigates, he finds himself fending off spies and assassins while leading the fleet across space.

Jacky Baby has done it again!
Revisado: 06-30-22
Captivating, though heavy on the political intrigue. A happy blend of new diverse characters adding to the rich flavor and nuanced thought I’ve long associated with the Lost Fleet universe. If you are a fan - this book will not disappoint!

Historia
The world of Dematr had been locked unchanging for centuries by the Great Guilds, most people living in a world of oil lamps, crossbows, and horse cavalry, the Mechanics reserving to themselves the technology for steam locomotives, rifles, and far-talkers while the Mages treated all others as if they were nothing - until Master Mechanic Mari, dragon slayer and pirate queen, and Master of Mages Alain raised the army of the new day to free their world.

Historia
The Mechanics and the Mages have been bitter rivals, agreeing only on the need to keep the world they rule from changing. But now a Storm approaches, one that could sweep away everything humans have built. Only one person has any chance of uniting enough of Dematr behind her to stop the Storm, but the Great Guilds and many others will stop at nothing to defeat her.

What did you love best about The Dragons of Dorcastle?
Jack Campbell has done it again! His series Lost Fleet or The Lost Stars now have a new sister and every bit worth the read. He makes me wish my commute was longer.
The story is rich. The main characters are so real and believable. The level of detail is just enough to see myself there without being overwhelmed and distracted (see Foundation series - yikes). The story moves along without being rushed or dragging on. I love the tension of young love and two teenagers struggling with adult emotions as maturely as they can all the while trying to figure out what they each want to be.
What other book might you compare The Dragons of Dorcastle to and why?
I found this book to be as riveting as Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series but in a much simplified world. Jack Campbell has told the story using true economy. The characters are as real and the byplay between characters are as heartfelt as anything in the WOT. I found the development of a more human personality to be much like I Robot.
Which scene was your favorite?
I love the omniscient point of view and so my favorite scene is when Alain brings up his foresight of the coming storm. Mari believing him to be discussing his feelings for her, stops him. Mari makes it clear that she knows what he is going to say. She makes him promise not to bring it up unless she herself does. Satisfied that Mari is aware of the dangers she faces Alain drops the subject leaving key information unsaid and Mari unaware. Jack ends the book with the hint of what Alain was trying to discuss trailing him as they part company for the final time.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Extreme - no - but laugh yes, Alain is much like a robot and his reactions to questions were very well performed by MacLeod Andrews who brought the characters alive.
Any additional comments?
This is a great read (or listen as my wife says). I sure feel like I got my moneys worth and am counting the days till the sequel is released.

Where does Guardian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I anticipated this books release and set my expectations very high. Jack Campbell has delivered some thought provoking military scifi action-packed novels featuring his boyscout Black Jack Geary. I hoped this to be of the same vain. WELL It more than satisfied my itch and delivered yet another well thought out plot and great action Strong characterizations that came alive with Campbell's depth and Rummel's masterful narration. Bravo - Bravo - Encore? Soon I hope! So the answer - One of my best reads!
