Historia
Rich socialite, inveterate flirt, and walking disaster Tennalhin Halkana can read minds. Tennal, like all neuromodified “readers,” is a security threat on his own. But when controlled, readers are a rare asset. Not only can they read minds, but they can navigate chaotic space, the maelstroms surrounding the gateway to the wider universe. Conscripted into the military under dubious circumstances, Tennal is placed into the care of Lieutenant Surit Yeni, a duty-bound soldier, principled leader, and the son of a notorious traitor general. Whereas Tennal can read minds, Surit can influence them.

Whispering and LGBTQ+
Revisado: 09-14-24
This audio book has too much whispering and so you raise the volume and then when he talks normal you blow out your ear drums. Also this maybe a good book for you if your into the lgbtq+ genre. It wasn't really for me, I wanted more of the story and action in a space style book with alien's and military.

A bit disappointed this go around
Revisado: 11-21-19
First of all the narrator for Efrin whispered way too much. Second the whole audio should be louder as a whole.
Third there should be less minor characters and way more Reaper. He’s the reason we all like the book serious and yet we got maybe 10-15% of him in the book.
Unlike able character you focused way to much on was Lyra of licos or however you spell her name. She is not fun, sexy, smart, or inspiring. She is just a an idiot you are trying to make smart.
As for reapers wife mustang she was very forgettable as well.
The only other main character that I began to like was reapers enemy the young highness.
If you want to add in a fun female character maybe choose the talamanis lady or Victra. They Atleast fight and kick ass.
All and all book need to be 90% reaper and 10% of your trash side character since your trying to turn the book into a game of thrones setting.

Great author/narrator, bad main character.
Revisado: 08-08-19
The main character is like a 15 year old girl that is pig headed, egotistical, blind to everyone around her, and unemotional about anything that is not herself.
She acts like she is doing everything for humanity but really only cares about herself and gets friends and family killed left and right like they are just pawns and she shows no remorse. The only sympathy I could find with her is she was a slave for 24 hours.
I never wanted a author to kill off their main character until this book. Which never happens.
In the end this stubborn child become the all powerful and never looks back at all the lives she destroyed. There were other crazy murdering kids in the story but they were like able.

Revisado: 08-07-18
I noticed with this authors works that he likes to put out quantity vs quality. They are usually fun short books though and so I come back time to time. A lot of people hate this book because of the narrator. I didn't hate it. She didn't do other characters voices well and so maybe thats peoples biggest gripe. The story was ok, but felt rushed.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

Slow Start, Good Middle, & Strong Ending
Revisado: 08-07-18
This book was hard to listen to for the first few chapters of introductions. I felt somewhat lost at times as to who everyone is. I usually like books that are from a single characters prospective. Instead this book is more combination as to what everyone is thinking and doing. Also the writers building of the super hero world in his eyes was hard to imagine at first. But after the kids go to college the book began for me. Luckily this book was very long. And so I got to see how each character developed. I believe the author missed some golden opportunities to expand some events within the book. For example: one boy builds a 4d device so they can watch movies as if they are in the haunted movie. They set up the device and start the movie and bam next chapter. Than a few chapters later they brush on it slightly saying the boy is scared to use the device that it was too realistic. Strong ending. I'll buy book 2. The narrator was good as well.

Historia
When an elite team of specialists receives a long-awaited first contact from an alien race, it’s nothing like what they’d imagined. The "gifts," from a long-dead but seemingly benevolent alien race, have been sent to help humanity defend itself against an imminent threat. It’s clear that the gifts are intended to help, but at what price? Caught in the middle is Sam Steele, a high-level programmer and veteran with a tragic past, up against the arrogant, intransigent Colonel Eric Web, who considers Steele a loose cannon and is most concerned with giving the United States an edge in the upcoming battle.

Well Written and Narrated, but it ends there.
Revisado: 07-26-18
I bought this book on the last sale for like $5. I debated returning it about 3 times. First after a few chapters, because it was slow. Second, because I saw it going no where. Third was after I was done, because I felt unsatisfied. The book was written and edited very well. The narrator was very easy to listen to and the largest reason I listened to the entire book. The story reminded me of a few slow sci-fi movies: Arrival & Annihilation. Extremely slow first contact stories that leave you hanging. Right when they get good they END...

The BEST Book I've Listened To Out Of About 250!
Revisado: 09-21-15
Would you listen to Red Rising again? Why?
Most definitely and have already told all my friends about it!
What did you like best about this story?
This story starts slow, but later I found it to be because the author wanted to set the tone for the entire story and have a solid foundation.
I loved every character in the book. Even the bad ones, I loved to hate them! I loved the logic in this book. The author showed us his ability to write and create a story that will leave his readers wanting more and more.
What about Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance did you like?
He was a good narrator. I have no pro's or con's.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Red Rising "The Reaper's Heart!"
Any additional comments?
Well part 1 was slow as I stated above. However, from the end of part 1 starts the best book I have ever listened to! The end was not sad, but left me with tear's because it touched me soo deeply. That is because I feel like the characters are very easy to grow attached to. They all have their own character and personality and the author makes you feel as if you are by their side the entire time!

A Good Dystopian Book!
Revisado: 04-14-14
What made the experience of listening to Perfect Ruin the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the narrator.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked the small jumper girl, I forget her name. She shows courage.
Which scene was your favorite?
I liked the entire book equally.
Any additional comments?
This book was a bit short and well written. I'm sure there will be a second book. It's worth buying if you like dystopian books.
