Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

POWERFUL
Revisado: 03-31-25
The courage that it took for Viola Davis to share her life story in such a raw and introspective way is admirable. This book took me a while to get through, and though I do recommend it... I will say that this story covers about every trigger warning known to man, and that I wouldn't try reading this book in one sitting. This is a story of self-acceptance, overcoming trauma and generational curses, and faith. Her writing is brilliant. The power and weight of her words is palpable. In the end this story is here to empower and encourage others, as if to say our struggles cannot stop us, our past cannot hold us, and our future is infinitely brighter than we could ever imagine or ask for.

Historia
The Discarded Image paints a lucid picture of the medieval worldview, providing the historical and cultural background to the literature of the middle ages and renaissance. It describes the 'image' discarded by later years as "the medieval synthesis itself, the whole organization of their theology, science, and history into a single, complex, harmonious mental model of the universe". This, Lewis' last book, has been hailed as "the final memorial to the work of a great scholar and teacher and a wise and noble mind".

God, Our Bright Shadow
Revisado: 10-25-24
I really love how much C.S. Lewis shared about the pivotal moments of his life and how it shaped his faith. How it was made and unmade and then renewed. It's an inspiring reminder of God's relentless love and his patience as we come to terms with who He made us to be in a fallen world.

Breakups are typically synonymous with rocky road ice cream, rom-com reruns, and rough crying sessions. But not this one! This is an invitation to liberation, a chance to release who you've been and discover who you truly are. Often, our former mistakes and regrets hold us back from where we're called to be. How can one heal and move on? To find your breakthrough, you must break up with what broke you.

This story is something that can serve everyone, not just women. God is a mystery worth exploring, and by seeing and hearing what he's done for others, we can hope for the miracles He will cultivate for us and through us.

I feel like this voice actor for this book really embodied the essence and accents of the actors in the Hunger Games films. I'm not sure which one came first. Her Effie accent was 10/10. I was engaged the entire time. I've loved the films for so long, so it makes sense that I would enjoy this story as an audiobook.

Brilliant Trilogy
Revisado: 06-26-24
This trilogy is brilliantly executed. Holly Jackson is a great narrator, and there were plenty of moments when I laughed out loud. I could totally see much of the events in this novel happening in real life at the end of the world. A lot of food for thought on corruption, humanity, and redemption. I definitely recommend this series.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Historia
The Bible uses the word Christian to describe followers of Jesus a grand total of three times. But there's another identifier that fills the pages of the New Testament - a word we've mistakenly reserved for the halo-wearing elite, losing something profound in the process: saints. Wrapped in this ancient word is a divine invitation to discover who God created you to be and awaken to the life you were meant to know. Using Scripture and stories from his own experience, Addison Bevere makes a compelling case that the life you desire is found in the mystery of this sacred identity.

This book was profound. Everything revealed to me is going to take time to process, but I know that I am better for it. There are simple truths about God that I have learned now, and better understand because of Addison's perspective. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
