Great podcast! I love hearing from you pilots are among and provided support for the greatest heroes from the Vietnam war. Thank you so very much. You answered many questions I had regarding codenames for Covey pilots & riders! I hope you will do more interviews because you are such a pleasure to listen to.

I'm glad I got to learn about Randy. I'm deep down the rabbit hole learning about SOG, & I've purchased more than 3 dozen books, and I really appreciate these podcasts. I would love to hear from this man again. Thank you Randy, Tilt, Jocko, Echo, Carey.

Historia
The Last Stand of Fox Company is a fast-paced and gripping account of heroism and self-sacrifice in the face of impossible odds. The authors have conducted dozens of firsthand interviews with the battle's survivors, and they narrate the story with the immediacy of such classic accounts of single battles as Guadalcanal Diary, Pork Chop Hill, and Black Hawk Down.

Revisado: 07-19-24
I love this book. Great history, great narration, epic warriors who fought & died together, never breaking faith & allegiance to each other, their families, the Corps, & America. If you are looking for a book that never gets old to listen to: I recommend this book.

Historia
Nine Days in May is the first full account of the bitterly contested battles fought between three American battalions and two North Vietnamese Army regiments. This prolonged, deadly encounter was one of the largest, most savage actions seen by elements of the storied 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. Drawing on interviews with the participants, Warren K. Wilkins recreates the vicious fighting in gripping detail. This is a story of extraordinary courage and sacrifice.

Reverence & Respect
Revisado: 01-20-24
I would have given the performance 5 stars, but the guy doesn't know how to pronounce chi-com. I understand that Vietnamese names & words might be difficult, but the narrator should ask these questions before his performance. I went ahead & bought the hardcover. I should have learned about these brave men in my youth, not my 40's. Thank you to all those young men. All gave some, some gave all.

You lived quite a life Admiral. Thank you for your faithful service to the great republic, her allies, and the silent service. I am a tremendous lover of naval war history books & I rank yours among the best. When my hardcover copy arrives it will reside between Admiral O'kane's books & Admiral Rickover's biography. Semper Fidelis
Revisado: 08-07-23
Thank you both for your heroic service. This was another great SOGcast! It is difficult to put my immense gratitude into words that you are sacrificing your time to preserve this important American military history. Any current or future military member, regardless of service branch, would be doing themselves great self-investment by listening to these historic conversations. Because SOG gathered the rich traditions of fighting men from all branches to focus on two shared goals, mission accomplishment & supporting the troops, while staking their lives on nearly every mission, this is a history America cannot afford to lose, especially today. Reverence, Respect, & Love to you both, as well as all of your team & support personnel. Thank you, Semper Fi!

Historia
In the Vietnam War, 2,197 helicopter pilots and 2,717 crew members were killed. Black Cat 2-1 is the story of one pilot who made it home and the valiant men he served with who risked their lives for the troops on the ground. Bob Ford invites listeners into the Huey helicopters he flew on more than 1,000 missions when he and his men dared to protect and rescue. For those whose voices were silenced in that faraway place or who have never told their stories, he creates a tribute that plays like a thriller, captures the humor of men at war, and resounds with respect for those who served with honor.

A Must-Have Audiobook
Revisado: 05-01-23
This is among the best of the best of war memoirs. I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks & this is the best author narrated audiobook I have ever listened to. This filled in many holes for me regarding Army helicopter gunship support for the Marines at Hue & Fu Bai in the days leading up to & beyond Tet 1968. I listened to this book 3 times in a row. This is so good I ordered the hard-back. This book brought me to tears a few times. Mr. Ford is a true American hero who risked his life hundreds of times for the men on the ground & his fellow pilots. The leadership displayed by Ford & McKenzie is such to be emulated by every American no matter the task, no matter how important & dangerous. I am grateful to Mr. Ford for sharing his experience. Thank you sir!

Dale Hanson takes us from a northern Minnesota boyhood to the incredible stresses of US special operations during the Vietnam War, the deadly world of MAC-V-SOG, the top-secret Special Forces project that conducted America’s secret war against the Communist forces on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Shrouded in mystery and equipped with exotic weaponry, SOG operators suffered casualty rates in excess of 100 percent for three successive years.

Wonderful in Every Way. Book of the year for me.
Revisado: 04-10-23
I cannot easily express my love for this book. I was brought to tears throughout. I have read over a dozen SOG books, & they have ranged from good to great, but this is my favorite. Dale Hanson is a prince of a man who embodies the definition of the Christian Soldier. Mr. Hanson did a wonderful job in narration and there were no wrongly pronounced places or terminology which detracts from other Vietnam War books. Thank you sir, God Bless You!

The Sogcast Episode I've been waiting for
Revisado: 02-22-23
Tim Shaaf is my hero. I've been looking forward to this for years. Hoping that he would give an interview with Tilt. It was almost everything I was hoping for (I'm not complaining this is 5 star stuff). Please have Tim back on and ask him about getting Quang out of jail. There are at least 7 more stories that are epic in which Tim was involved & I have heard these stories from multiple perspectives, but never his. Thank you for doing this Tilt. I will continue to support your efforts by any means at my disposal. Fair winds & following seas to you both.
