Really good
Revisado: 02-05-25
Wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised.
The characters acted like real people. Decent character development.
Some strengthened in the face of danger and some crumbled. And like real life, you can’t predict who will be which. Some people acted irrationally just as people do under stress.

I do too much
Revisado: 06-19-24
Good leadership book. Nothing really new or groundbreaking for anyone that has real experience in, read books, or attended lectures regarding leadership. It is however a good collection of important leadership concepts laid out in a smoother way than most.
What I find is that in supervisory roles, the people in those roles believe they know what a leader is because they were hired into that role. So real leaders are stifled by supervision / management.
People in the public service fields are often managed by people that are self oriented not service oriented. They look good because they do their specific tasks. Meanwhile leaders struggle to do their own because they are focused on tasks that are for the good of the team.
Hopefully this book creates a spark in many future leaders and lights a fire under the bum of people that are paid to be leaders.

In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Wish I read/listened to this years ago.
Revisado: 03-09-24
I loved how she didn’t blindly make claims on how people develop grit but supports it with real world backing supported by research. She also doesn’t claim that the general way people get grit are confined to those dominating factors but admits there are other things that contribute. For me this adds validity to the reading. Nothing felt ground breaking, but this book does lay out concepts in a way that will help the reader make sense of how to inspire others.
Loved it.

Info most people know and most deny
Revisado: 01-01-24
Most of this info isn’t surprising. She layout information and her family’s story well. I feel for those involved.
It was strange that she freaked out about her sones marijuana use yet didn’t care that he vaped. So she appeared to condone one but didn’t care about those other. Why not be consistent? Don’t approve of your child using any dangerous addictive substances. I don’t know why that stuck with me but it lingered throughout the book.
One other thing she kept doing was say that today’s marijuana isn’t the same as “the marijuana we smoked back in the day”. She kept repeating it as if saying that any marijuana was okay and ONLY high potency MJ is problematic. Additionally, not everyone has used or even tried MJ.
That sounds like I didn’t like the book but those were my only issues with it… they just lingered for me.
She presented a lot of information many may not know is out there. She referenced a lot of scientific studies proving the dangers of MJ. She even told people where to find it so they could do their own review of those studies.
Her son’s struggles through her book may actually save lives… and many families.
I recommend this for teachers, parents, first responders, or anyone directly/indirectly impacted by MJ use.

Historia
In American Marxism, Mark Levin explained how Marxist ideology has invaded our society and culture. In doing so, he exposed the institutions, scholars, and activists leading the revolution. Now, he picks up where he left off: to hold responsible the true malefactors steering our country down the wrong path. Insightful and hard-hitting as ever, Levin proves that since its establishment, the Democrat Party has set out to rewrite history and destroy the foundation of freedom in America.

I loved that the content flowed. Everything mention was played out in a logical progression. “The Great One”, Mark Levin, didn’t hold back any punches. But as usual supported his stance with irrefutable facts.

Lots of good tidbits.
Revisado: 12-27-22
Good info. I believe that everything in the book is stuff I’ve read elsewhere…however, this book puts it all together it a seamless way. I like he how says that nothing he teaches is proof of deception alone. Instead he says that the totality of various clues indicates a high probability of deception. That’s an honest answer.

Historia
You might think you know what happened in the tragic shooting of Breonna Taylor, but no one knows that better than the lead officer on the scene, Sergeant John Mattingly. However, with the full support of the mainstream media, "Black Lives Matter" activists and other leftist groups immediately pounced on the tragedy, exploiting Breonna's death and twisting the story—in some cases, telling outright lies—to bolster a shameful “All Cops Are Bastards" narrative and radical “Defund the Police" agenda.

This was an outstanding book. The author lays it all out in a clear way. We all remember the incident. For those of us that actually listened when facts came out, it was hard to imagine why so many people ignored the truth.
I appreciate the work he and his fellow men and women in blue do every day. I hope this book can help people bridge a gap.
