Historia
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

I don't understand, is it a new form of writing where each chapter is a new character's point of view, it's very distracting, just tell the story uninterrupted. I couldn't finish is..

Not bad but…
Revisado: 02-28-25
It was good if not a bit far-reaching. However, when it got to the part about Hoffa it lost some credibility with me. It sounded as though Richard figured since he had killed so many no one would dispute some of the outlandish murders he claimed to have committed.

Rolling my eyes at how many times the author used
Revisado: 06-28-24
I thought the overall book was good. However, I really, and I can't stress this enough, really grew tired of how many times the author used the term "toxic masculinity." it was ridiculous and I rolled my eyes every time it was used, I mean who gives a crap!? going on and on about transgender non-binary crap is very tiring and ludicrous

very in depth
Revisado: 05-01-24
Its a pretty good listen , the narration is easy to hear, the material is fun, the only exception I take and I had to fast forward were the whole Racist, trans, and so on woke crap. Comedy is comedy and the funniest stuff happens to be ethnical in nature and every good comedian makes fun of minorities even making fun of their own ethnicity so get over it. it really does bring the book down. so I just skipped through it and kept listening.

The name “Hollywood” conjures up fantastical images of bright lights, glamorous dreams, and impossible riches. From its humble beginnings as a ranch sprawling northwest of Los Angeles in the late 1800s, Hollywood has spanned lifetimes as a factory of dreams, a dazzling place where all things are possible.

Really interesting store with underlying personal agendas
Revisado: 03-18-24
I purchased this, expecting to hear some good stories about old Hollywood and mysteries. I got that plus the whole lot of poor poor women stuff that we tend to hear more about today. however, the author seems convenient to ignore the fact that there were as many female predators as there were male predators . after a while narrative, gets tiresome and of course, there is the Elizabeth Short story that every single tragic Hollywood tale has. However, there are some redeeming qualities to this most everything in the book I knew, but there was some things that I just learned, which was worth the money.

Historia
Long before Superman or Batman made their first appearances, there was Zorro. Born on the pages of the pulps in 1919, Zorro fenced his way through the American popular imagination, carving his signature letter Z into the flesh of evildoers in Old Spanish California. Zorro is the original caped crusader, the first hero to have a band called the Avengers, and the character who laid the blueprint for the modern American superhero. In Zorro's Shadow, historian and Latin American studies expert Stephen J. C. Andes investigates the legends behind the mask of Zorro.

not what I expected
Revisado: 03-07-24
I purchased this audiobook with the hopes of learning the creation of one of my favorite characters Zorro I got along with it I got loads and loads of diatribes about racism, inequity, and so on however, some of this may be true. I don’t think a lot of it can be taken as fact an example would be when the author attacks Marvel for not having enough colored superheroes in the MCU not taking into account that several colored heroes were in fact, included. One colored man actually controlled the whole thing Nick fury I believe the author needs to do more research before he writes an extensive book on racism in the comic industry.

Hey you guys, it’s Leslie. I’m excited to share my story with you. Now, I’m gonna be honest: Some of the details might be vague because a b*tch is fifty-five and she’s smoked a ton of weed. But while bits might be a touch hazy, I can promise you the underlying truth is REAL.

Tough to get through
Revisado: 11-13-23
I wanted to like her, but all the preaching, whining, and accusing made it difficult. Oh, and loud, very loud. Her journey was fascinating, but she is proud of her achievements to the point of rubbing it into everyone's face; she Professes to be a Christian but exemplifies the exact opposite. although I have only seen her in one thing that I didn't like: she does a lot of bragging. And everything and everyone that doesn't agree with her is either racist or stupid. It was tough to finish, and it got even worse in the last thirty minutes. I wouldn't recommend listening to it if you have small children in the car.

Historia
In addition to being among the most celebrated of contemporary filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is possibly the most joyously infectious movie lover alive. For years he has touted in interviews his eventual turn to writing books about films. Now, with Cinema Speculation, the time has come, and the results are everything his passionate fans—and all movie lovers—could have hoped for. Organized around key American films from the 1970s, all of which he first saw as a young moviegoer at the time, this book is as intellectually rigorous and insightful as it is rollicking and entertaining.

Very good
Revisado: 09-19-23
Many people complain that the author did not narrate the entire book, but it's not a true autobiography; however, he did narrate the parts that directly pertained to his life. I enjoyed the book immensely. I can't entirely agree with his observation of the “80s decade” being the worst for movies, but I did enjoy his insight on most things Hollywood.
