Such a disappointment!
Revisado: 08-23-24
For starters I’ve been a HUGE fan of this author, have listened to and have really enjoyed all previous works. Because of this I waited with great anticipation for this long awaited book. I made it about an hour and a half in, and had to stop. I can only think of one other time in about a thousand books that I’ve done this. Unfortunately it wasn’t just for one reason, but several, that are so off putting I couldn’t continue. The least of which is how utterly depressing it is, in great detail, about life and death. It’s also very clearly written by someone ultra woke! I’m anything but right wing but my God, his opinions are just crammed down your throat in an effort to foster extreme left leaning nonsense. Talk about fueling the fires. I wanted to be entertained, not Part 2 of 2020 and all this political and social upheaval.

Historia
US intelligence is reporting turmoil in the Russian navy. Their deadliest submarine, the Belgorod, has unexpectedly launched, and taken along with it a long list of questions. Who authorized the departure? What mission is it on? And, most disturbing of all, what weapons do the giant doors on the sub’s bow hide? It's been four decades since a similar incident with the Soviet sub, Red October, ended happily, thanks to a young CIA analyst named Jack Ryan.

Historia
For a century, the Panama Canal has served as the path between the seas. Control of this vital waterway is the difference between free trade and chaos in world markets. So when Panamanian President Rafael Botero asks for a show of support against the socialist opposition, his old friend President Jack Ryan can’t turn down an invitation to visit the country, but what seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown coup d’état erupts.

As a fan of this series I was not at all disappointed. Interesting story line with non-stop action. Exceptionally well narrated. I was really impressed with the length, it was long but not filled with stuff that didn’t move the story forward. A+ job by author (who’s among my favorites) and narrator.

If you’re a fan…
Revisado: 01-11-24
Then you will love this as much as I did. One unique thing about this series is our main guy is a normal average type guy without any ego. Not ultra serious like some of the others in his genre, which is refreshing and probably much more realistic. The innovation shown is also very cleaver. As usual, narration was superb.

Not to be a nay sayer, but this was WAAAYYY too snarky. It was great otherwise but the snarky comments that were a constant became very distracting from what was otherwise on par with all previous books.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

And the narration is amazing! The characters are exceptionally well done.
