Historia
In this personal, eloquently-argued essay—adapted from the much-admired TEDx talk of the same name—Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century. Drawing extensively on her own experiences and her deep understanding of the often masked realities of sexual politics, here is one remarkable author’s exploration of what it means to be a woman now—and an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.

Absolutely amazing
Revisado: 01-07-24
This is how I’ve always thought of the word “feminism.” Equality, fairness, empathy towards one another, identifying barriers we all face and how our genders affects our lives. This is so beautifully written and narrated. Easily one of my new favorites. It’s not anti-male, its not pointing any fingers or purely one-sided. My only negative is that there isn’t more. I could probably listen to Chimamanda speak on this subject for hours.

Historia
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Performances were amazing, but apparently it’s not the full book! Not sure why they’d only record some of the book and not all. Maybe it was to avoid spending on more actors? Idk, but totally not worth paying for some accounts of the events.. Would have been a 10/10 if not for the shortened story.

Historia
Ben and Marian Rolfe are desperate to escape a stifling summer in their tiny Brooklyn apartment, so when they get the chance to rent a mansion in upstate New York for the entire summer for only $900, it’s an offer that’s too good to refuse. There’s only one catch: Behind a strange and intricately carved door in a distant wing of the house lives elderly Mrs. Allardyce, and the Rolfes will be responsible for preparing her meals.

Dragged
Revisado: 07-06-23
I think I liked the summary of this story more than the actual story. The characters are frustrating and unlikeable. I think that really killed this story for me. I kept thinking, “man, I hope these folks die off soon.” It’s such a slow moving story, you have to endure so much boring details to get to any exciting bits (that weren’t all that exciting in my opinion, but to each their own). Narrator was okay. Story is not for me.

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

Amazing story and narrator
Revisado: 07-06-23
This is such a good story! There’s so much that happens due to the traveling of the main characters. You get horrible people, lovable people, disease despair, supernatural horror and fantasy action. It’s so much fun! The narrator is amazing and really pulls you in. I’ve listened to multiple books on audible lately and sadly a bad narrator can really ruin a good story. Not this one though! This book is worth reading and worth listening to.

Historia
On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a 32-year-old Realtor, had three goals: sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she’s about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.

Historia
Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring wardrobes, shattered Brooka glassware, and vandalized Liripip sofa beds—clearly someone, or something, is up to no good. To unravel the mystery, five young employees volunteer for a long dusk-till-dawn shift and encounter horrors that defy imagination.

Cool concept, meh execution.
Revisado: 06-21-23
Things don’t start to kick off till chapter 8. I spent the first portion of this book wondering if this is even a horror story, or if anything interesting will ever happen. Then when things do finally start happening, it’s just all over the place weirdness. Not creepy or scary (imo), just weird ghosts and kinda gore. Feels like a very generic haunting-in-this-building with a ragtag group enduring it, storyline. The characters are also super annoying. Especially Trinity. I was excited to hear this one because there were SO many people recommending it, but it was just kinda boring. If you’d like a story that’s basically Paranormal Activity meets Scary Movie, then you’d probably like this. If those aren’t your thing, I’d suggest passing.

Historia
Cassie McDowell’s life in 1980s Minnesota seems perfectly wholesome. She lives on a farm, loves school, and has a crush on the nicest boy in class. Yes, there are her parents’ strange parties and their parade of deviant guests, but she’s grown accustomed to them. All that changes when someone comes hunting in Lilydale. One by one, local boys go missing. One by one, they return changed - violent, moody, and withdrawn. What happened to them becomes the stuff of shocking rumors. The accusations of who’s responsible grow just as wild, and dangerous town secrets start to surface.

Not very interesting..
Revisado: 06-15-23
The performance was really good, but I just felt like this story dragged on with little happening during that time. Lots of buildup only for nothing to really occur. The end was interesting, but you have to endure a lot of boringness to get to it. I chalk it up to it just not being my style of book and I’m sure many others will enjoy it.

Historia
Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; all the members of the second expedition committed suicide; the third expedition died in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another; the members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within months of their return, all had died of aggressive cancer.

Just… lacking
Revisado: 06-03-23
I had a lot of excitement going into this story, only to end up disappointed. Here’s this mutated area, yet this story hardly dives into it. It’s so focused on the main character’s life and issues, it just feels like a waste of time. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, and it almost never did. The main character is kind of unlikable, in my opinion, and having majority of the focus on her just drags. Narrator was fantastic. Admittedly, she’s the reason I kept listening on, hoping for more to occur.
