Rick is like many Americans. He's concerned with what he sees on the news, and how the country seems to be ready to tear itself apart. His biggest concern has been civil unrest. Already an avid camper, he sets out to secure his future, and career, by finding his own Eden.

Not super thrilling, but not bad either.
Revisado: 05-18-17
Would you listen to One Man's Opus again? Why?
Probably not. Well, if I wanted to order in stock I would listen to find the website he listed.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a different take on the prepper genre. It wasn't as thrilling and dramatic as i'd hoped it would be, but the story line was there. The 'survival' part I didn't get because civilization was still fully functioning.
What three words best describe Kevin Pierce’s voice?
monotone. repetitive. non expressive
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No not really. A couple of times i laughed, but i didn't ever get attached to any characters.
Any additional comments?
If you're looking for an EOTW novel, this isn't it. Civilization is fully functioning and there hasn't been any societal calapse. However, it was still enjoyable. The story was good and there was character developement. I think i was just a little underwhelmed. Normally when you see 'survival and preparedness' you think that it's the end of the world as we know it and the characters will legitimately have to live off the land to survive. There wasn't much of that, but if you are looking for a short to-the-point book I think this one will entertain you.
The narrator narrates a lot of survival/eotw books but I didn't find his entertaining at all. There is little variation between the voices and if it didn't specifically say who was talking it would be hard to tell because they all sound the same.

Historia
From the early 1900s right up to Z-Day, the Grove Park Inn was the place for the affluent to stay when vacationing in Asheville, NC. Everyone from F. Scott Fitzgerald to President Barak Obama stayed at the Grove Park. Artists, actors, diplomats, masters of industry, all called it a temporary home at one point or another. But that was before the zombie apocalypse. Now the five-story stone, brick, and wood luxury inn is home to a different element. An unknown element. A heavily armed element.

I can't get enough of this series
Revisado: 05-17-17
What made the experience of listening to Z-Burbia 2: Parkway To Hell, Volume 2 the most enjoyable?
Elsbeth. I always looked forward to her scenes because it was almost a guarantee that she would say something that would make me bust out into laughter.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Z-Burbia 2: Parkway To Hell, Volume 2?
Definitely towards the end. Jace minus a hand
Which scene was your favorite?
All of Elsbeth's crazy zombie killing sprees
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was constantly laughing reading this book.
Any additional comments?
I have blown through reading this series since reading this book. There is always constant excitement. I love a book where they can make a serious situation seem a little lighter with comedy. Some parts may have been a little overkill but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Historia
Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.

A different take on the genre!
Revisado: 05-17-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe. If they were looking for this specific genre i might, otherwise i wouldn't.
If you’ve listened to books by C. A. Rudolph before, how does this one compare?
No
What three words best describe Kevin Pierce’s performance?
Expressive.decent. Says the word 'carbine' wrong.
Did What's Left of My World inspire you to do anything?
Keep an eye on the DOD. (laughing face emoji)
Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. I'm anxious to learn what happens to the crew and if her dad makes it back. As far as events go I think the author did a lot of research and i can see this being realistic. He could do with more character development between the characters, but other than that I enjoyed it enough!

Whispering Pines is a classic, quiet, private American subdivision on the edge of Asheville, NC, set in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains. Which is good since the zombie apocalypse has come to Western North Carolina and really put suburban living to the test! Surrounded by a sea of the undead, the residents of Whispering Pines have adapted their bucolic life of block parties to scavenging parties, common area groundskeeping to immediate area warfare, neighborhood beautification to neighborhood fortification.

Where does Z-Burbia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Definitely in my top 5 of zom-poc/dystopain favorites!
What did you like best about this story?
Jace's sense of humor is so funny and definitely had me laughing out loud. Elsbeth is also very entertaining
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene where 'longpork' was mentioned!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely. It had all of the drama of an apocalypse book and the humor was an added bonus
Any additional comments?
I really loved this book! Some parts (and people.. Brenda kelly) were infuriating, but Jace has a way of getting his friends and family out of sticky situations!
Jake is a phenomenal writer and the narrator really brought the characters to life!

Different from typical dystopian
Revisado: 03-20-17
If you could sum up Steamborn in three words, what would they be?
Different. Unique. Terrifying
If you’ve listened to books by Eric Asher before, how does this one compare?
---
What about Saskia Maarleveld’s performance did you like?
I love the diversity of all of the character's voices. She did a great job!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Jacob made the Arm for Peter
Any additional comments?
This book was different from your typical Dystopian books. The thought of spiders taking over is so terrifying it had my skin crawling! The beginning did start out a little slow for me, but when it picked up I enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to reading the other books when they come out. I'd like to keep up with Jacob and the gang! All in all I would recommend this if you like dystopian and sci-fi! This book was provided in return for an honest review by audiobookblast..........com

Better than the first!
Revisado: 03-09-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! It was hilarious, Sister in particular. I was constantly bursting into laughter. It's also very action packed!
What other book might you compare Dead Team Alpha 2 to and why?
Hollowland by Amanda Hocking
Which character – as performed by F.C. McAllister – was your favorite?
Sister. Her Sh*t F*cks were HILARIOUS!!!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Those Sh*t F*ck Code Monkey's are at it again.
Any additional comments?
I loved the first book and this one topped it! I wish the Author had written a small series about life inside the bunker. I think that would have been a cool concept. Especially if there is more sister. I would like to see where their story goes in particular, not just the civilization.
Overall, this was a really interesting read. It had literally everything. I especially like how no character is safe. No matter how much you like them, there is always a chance for everyone to die and i like that because it's realistic! I'm probably about to go back and re listen to it now!

Not too shabby
Revisado: 03-09-17
Although this wasn't the best book I've ever read, it also wasn't the worst. It had plenty of action and i like how he threw a little romance in there. It was lacking in character development though and I couldn't find myself getting attached to any of the characters. As terrorist plots go, this one was an okay read.

Revisado: 02-27-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Devil's Lake: Bittersweet Hollow Book 1 to be better than the print version?
------------
Who was your favorite character and why?
Boone was probably my favorite. He is so patient with Portia and is a huge part of helping her heal!
What about Gwendolyn Druyor’s performance did you like?
She really did a great job in diversifying the character's voices which is something that I really applaud in female narrators! She made me feel all of the intensity and I really enjoyed it!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Being free doesn't always mean being free.
Any additional comments?
I really loved this book. Lazar did such a great job conveying all of the emotions one would expect to feel in going through this situation. I love how he gave her time to heal instead of just her miraculously being better and not afraid. The love story between Boone and Portia is also so refreshing because it's more than just 'insta lust' The relationship gets to develop and it really does help her heal. This book is also realistic. It deals with real-life problems; cancer, addiction, sexual and mental abuse. It was a very refreshing read and I would recommend it to anyone!

Can't wait for the next installment!!
Revisado: 02-23-17
What did you love best about Dead Team Alpha?
I love all of the bad-assery. The Code Monkey's are bad ass, but DTA are the most bad ass! Despite all of the serious moments the book still stays light and enjoyable. There are plenty of deaths, but they went out as heroes, smiling.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I, of course, love Val. She is so independent and dishes out just as much as she takes!
Which character – as performed by F.C. McAllister – was your favorite?
I really liked Ford. He is super funny, and even in the serious moments he still cracks jokes. He is also pretty bad ass when it counts
If you could take any character from Dead Team Alpha out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I would take Bobby. Poor guy. You won't understand why I said that unless you read the book, so go read it!
Any additional comments?
All in all this was a pretty spectacular book! It started out a little too much for me, but towards the end of the book I found myself scouring Audible for the next book. The writer definitely did a great job! I was gifted this book by Audio book book
