Deep State Defends Itself
Revisado: 03-15-21
Not a huge fan of the Clintons, but this reads like the Deep State taking on a Administration because they are mean people. I'm sure there will be another book like this about Trumps soon enough.
It was entertaining in points and I always enjoy hearing some of the inner workings of politics, but this book was very oversimplified to Clintons bad, everyone else good.

This highly respected veteran newsman shares the stories he's long kept under wraps. Schieffer goes beyond the news everyone is familiar with to share the compelling anecdotes only his colleagues were previously privy to. Says the author, "I want to tell you about the parts that didn't get on television or in the paper." The result is an eye-opening glimpse behind the scenes of the news business.

LOVED THIS BOOK!
Revisado: 04-20-20
If you follow news and in particular CBS News, Bob has been a big part of it for along time. I really enjoyed how he gave the back story to the stories he tells. I like the way the book is organized, and I appreciate his stark opinion on some of the issues he's reported on, but never gave an opinion on. Highly recommend.

Great Book if you followed CBS News
Revisado: 04-19-20
Roger reporting on the CBS Evening news is one of my earliest memories. Really liked this book from the standpoint of wrote it like he was reporting on it. Which is different than Rather's and Schieffer's books.

Outstanding, profane, funny, sad, unforgettable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I've read a lot of military books over the years. Many very good. I put this near the top.
What other book might you compare The Operator to and why?
Strangely, Undaunted Courage about Lewis and Clark. Prepare for the mission and then take your small unit into the relatively unknown only being able to count on that unit much of the time for your survival and completion of the mission.
What about Robert O'Neill’s performance did you like?
Great narration and cadence.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I think this maybe the only book I have done this with.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I actually thought that this might have some new insight based on the ratings the book had got. Frankly I was disappointed. Its the same old management theory we've been reading about for 25 years now. If you've read one, you read them all.
Has The Lean Startup turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes

Jeffrey Cruikshank and Arthur Schultz have written a fascinating biography of one of the 20th century’s most intriguing figures. Albert D. Lasker helped invent “reason why” advertising, market research based on direct-mail advertising, premium coupons, and a host of other industry innovations. He invented and promoted powerful brands. But his impact went far beyond traditional advertising. This is the story of a man who shaped an industry - and changed the way we look at our world.
