Historia
There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

So good!
Revisado: 04-20-25
I was super excited to download this when it finally came out!!! And now that I've finished it, when is Abby's next book?!!!
As always, she hooks you into the book in the first few minutes - and then you have to "steal" minutes from here and there to listen...and as always, I'm bummed when the book is over!
I think it's sad that she, or whomever, feel the need to "preface" the subjects she addresses in her books. We live in such a cuupcake world anymore ..... if you can't handle the subjects/situaitons she addresses in her books, you probably shouldn't be allowed to read books. Abby does an amazing job of weaving the stresses and struggles most all of us have in our daily lives - it nice to have characters that you can relate to. I thought her "uncovering" of the struggles of a loved one struggling with dimentia were spot on - espcially from the perspecitve of the dad/husband. Feeling that so many probably feel guilty for (and struggle with) - and I'm sure it's nice to be validated that someone can relate.
I also enjoyed that she wove other "characters" into this book from her other books (maybe this is a stretch - I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong - I'm not super detail oriented), like Brad the dog and Jafar the bird. As always, I thoroughly enjoy her humor. I was laughing so hard about the online comments after the dog rescue from the car that I had to stop the book, becuase I couldn't even hear what was happening next! I wasn't so sure about the ending ...... but then as I got closer to the very end, I was like, ok! this is perfect! And of course, I added "Come on Eileen" to a few of my playlists!

Except for the narration
Revisado: 04-13-25
I almost didn't finish this.....the monotone/sterile narration made it hard for me to get engaged in the book and it seemed to take forever before something hooked me to want to listen to more ...
But, I'm glad I continued as I enjoyed the character development and I don't think I've really ever read a book about some of the "topics" covered in the book, which I found interesting and intriguing. Eventually, my interest in the book overpowered my distaste for the narration. I bookmarked another of her books to listen to - one that has a male co-narrator.

Historia
Emily Emerson is used to being alone; her dad ran out on the family when she was just a kid, her mom died when she was 17, and her beloved grandmother has just passed away as well. But when she's laid off from her reporting job, she finds herself completely at sea until the day she receives a beautiful, haunting painting of a young woman standing at the edge of a sugarcane field under a violet sky. That woman is recognizable as her grandmother - and the painting arrived with no identification other than a handwritten note saying, "He always loved her."

Entertaining and Educational
Revisado: 03-29-25
As always, I enjoy historical fiction - some entertaiment while I get some education. I had no idea that there were POWs located in Florida (I researched and confirmd this!). Telling the story from two different perspectives and two different time frames, made it interesting - just sometimes a bit tedious to get through some parts. I enjoyed that there was more than one conflict going on and the story is suspenseful right up until the very end. I think the author did a nice job of decrbing the conflct, hardship and heartache of this period in time - life could not have been easy or necessarily had many happy endings.

This was better than book 1
Revisado: 03-29-25
Book number two was better than book number one - just still not a lot of substance. The ending totally caught me off guard - I did not see that coming! So, I immediately downloaded book three and picked right up from where I left off!
Again, like with the first, I'm assuming this was written to be like 50 shades...... at trilogy that has a rich, mysterious, controlling man who wants a young, struggling female, and includes LOTS of "romance." Unfortunately these books are NOT well written like 50 shades (so many repeitive/dramatic phrases and adjectives) and the narration was not the best, but the "suspense" of what happens next and what are the big secrets enticed me to buy the next books in the series.

Hard to listen to
Revisado: 03-20-25
I think I would have liked this book better had it been better narrated......because I found llstening to it annoying - like an uneventful radio broadcast. It had a cute storyline and could have been a good "quick listen. "

Interesting
Revisado: 02-23-25
I always love reading books from different cultures - gives me a persepctive of life so unlike my own. It's always a bonus when a book is based on a true story and I enjoyed the explanation/epilogue at the end of the book. The narration of this book was good. It's slow going at parts, but it was worth it to get to the end.

So good!
Revisado: 02-09-25
I've learned to prepare myself when I start an Abby Jimenez book....I need to have a lot of time on my hands, because I avoid my repsonsibbilites and want to just listen, listen, listen! So good! She does an amazing job of building characters and connecting her books to real life! I like how you don't have to have read the others (in the trilogy) to understand what is going on, but yet, I love the "updates" about Kristen and Josh in this one. I'm always super sad when the time dwindles down - I never want her books to be over. Narration was perfect!

Historia
Kristen Petersen doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen - especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family.

So Good!!!!!
Revisado: 01-27-25
As always, I love love love Abby Jimenez's books! She hooks you into the story right from the beginning - if only all authors could do this!! I always find myself avoiding chores and repsonsibilities so I can listen to just a few more minutes!
Her books are so realistic. Real lfe is not easy or fair, nor is it for her characters. Their problems, struggles and conflicts are so relatalbe to many readers (and this book made me teary in more than one spot). The romance that develops between Josh and Kristen is dreamy!!!!! If only every girl could get themselves a Josh!
Jimenez does such an amazing job of developing her characters that you feel like you are living life right along side of them. And, the narration was totally spot on! The only complaint I have is that I was super sad when the book was over!!!

So weird
Revisado: 01-20-25
So very weird....when I got to the very end, "I got it", but in the meantime, trying to get through this I was like what the h*ll?! The storyline was good, but I think the writing needed to be tweaked somehow so you didn't just feel like you were hallucinating on some kind of illegal drugs (I'm just guessing about this comparison, never done this).....while trying to get through this.
