I really needed this!

I first learned about Ryan at a business meeting where he was the motivational speaker. What he said really resonated with me, so I wanted to hear more and bought his book Level Up. Fortunately I noticed this shorter book as well and dove right in. Ryan has a way of helping me see things from a POV I hadn’t let myself consider before. I truly believe the things I learned in Unoffendable will help me grow as a person and heal some hurts in my family. I love the scripture stories that he weaves into his messages. I’m a believer so that is very powerful for me. Thank you, Ryan!

It started off great but the abilities of the 4 year old daughter made the whole book feel preposterous to me. I should stop reading fiction because it almost always disappoints me. The message of the book was overshadowed by the parts that were simply overdone.

Everything about this book is fantastic. I love the story of Christ’s birth and am so happy to have found something to help me feel the true spirit of Christmas in such a meaningful way. The narration is wonderful as is the writing.

Not compelling

I’m sure this is the story of millions of women through time who have been oppressed, subjected, and abused by weak, repulsive men. It just didn’t make me feel anything. As far as the narrator, I’m not sure why, but the first part of some of the characters names was difficult to hear. Bethany sounded like -thany. John sounded like -ohn. It happened throughout the book.

Not believable

One of the narrators was overly dramatic (voice breaking as if in despair even in parts where there was nothing to be upset over), the characters’ traits seemed to contradict themselves (for example, Meredith talked about how she rarely lied to her husband while constantly lying to him), and the plot was not believable (how did one go from being normal to so sinister?). I listened to the end but won’t read another Kubica. Also, if the f word bothers you, pass on this book.

Rick Bragg is the real deal

This is a book I’ll listen to over and over. Bragg is sincere, funny, charming, and a delight to listen to. The stories are bite-sized and give me the warm fuzzies. We are from the west and we love visiting the south. In between trips I’ll turn to this (and other Bragg books) to get my southern fix.

Husband couldn’t stand it.

I bought this for my 5 year old grandson to listen to on a long car trip, but my husband couldn’t stand the narration. (Sorry, Riz). Grandson didn’t like it either.
