Do you want to be a more relaxed author? There are plenty of books and tips on writing faster, learning more marketing tactics and strategies, trying to maximize your ranking, hitting the top of the charts, juicing the algorithms, and hacking different ad platforms. While these are all important things - which the authors themselves regularly write and talk about - it's also important to recognize that your author journey is a marathon, and not a sprint.

When word gets out about a massive drug and human trafficking cartel moving tons of illegal drugs, along with hundreds of slave laborers, out of Venezuela, Jesse is tasked with stopping them at all cost.

Great Storyteller!
Revisado: 09-18-21
Wayne Stinnett is a great storyteller who has a terrific narrator in Nick Sullivan--a wonderful writer in his own right! STEADY AS SHE GOES is the 21st book in Jesse McDermitt's adventure series. (I've read or listened to all of them!) I love Jesse and all the other characters, each very distinct. (And Nick is great with the variety of voices!) In this book, Jesse takes a new role, not only as a captain of a "research" ship but also as a new adoptive dad. New characters are joining Jesse, and I'm hoping its not the last of them in future books. Without spoiling it for the listener, I will only say there is a subplot that brought tears to my eyes. In addition to the Caribbean locations I love to hear about, I thoroughly enjoy the fine details of ships, cars, firearms, the Keys and military history. Highly recommend!

Fascinating true life backdrop
Revisado: 08-08-20
I loved how the story-lines of three female fictional characters were woven together during the time of a real hurricane that destroyed so much of the Florida Keys. I was vaguely aware of the history but this novel brought it to life in harrowing detail, including the veterans' camps (which was new to me). The three narrators did an excellent performance of the three female characters.

Another great Gaslight Mystery!
Revisado: 06-24-20
I love everything about Victoria Thompson's Gaslight Mystery series, from the growing cast of characters to the Victorian New York setting to the murder mystery. Oh yes, and the interesting author note at the end that gives a little more background about a specific historical event and/or people in the book. In MURDER ON PLEASANT AVENUE, Gino is accused of murder and Frank & Sarah Malloy set out to prove their friend is innocent. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing and the narration!

Touching Novel with Beautiful Narration
Revisado: 05-10-20
Diane Chamberlain has penned another great masterpiece in THE STOLEN MARRIAGE about a Baltimore student nurse in the 1940s who makes the biggest mistake of her life that upturns many lives, including her own. Hearing more about the polio epidemic during our current Covid-19 pandemic lock down is exceptionally poignant. Ms. Chamberlain included a real polio hospital in Hickory, North Carolina that added a deep richness of authenticity.
Narrator Susan Bennett is one of the best narrators I've heard in a long time. She has a way of making the story come to life with subtle emotion and smooth intonations that imbues the WRITER'S voice instead of drawing attention to herself as the narrator. I'm already planning to purchase more audio books narrated by Ms. Bennett!

Historia
Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy and Sarah Brandt are not the only ones who have recently tied the knot. Family friend Mrs. O'Neill was delighted when her daughter, Una, wed the seemingly wealthy and charming Randolph Pollock. She didn't wonder why such an affluent man would want to marry a poor Irish girl, no matter how pretty she was. But now Mrs. O'Neill has a problem. Pollock's servants have found their employer bludgeoned to death, with Una cradling his body.

With Frank & Sarah on their honeymoon, I was curious how this story would play out with Gino & Maeve as the main characters. It was just as wonderful as all the other books in the series! Loved it!

In this intimate, haunting, literary memoir read by the author, an American icon tells her story for the first time, in her own gorgeous words - about a challenging and lonely childhood, the craft that helped her find her voice, and a powerful emotional legacy that shaped her journey as a daughter and a mother.

Revisado: 10-19-18
My grief therapist recommended this book for us to discuss the mother-daughter relationship as well as the betrayal of incest. For me, Sally Field's career struggles and successes made a fascinating backdrop to the very real, very human drama of her personal life.

In her new audiobook, From Heartbreak to Wholeness, Kristine offers a life-altering map for navigating the heroic journey from loss to joy - one that ultimately awakens listeners to a deep love affair with life. Every day, people suffer heartbreaks of some kind - loss of a loved one, divorce, illness, loss of a job or home - and seek to understand why these losses and traumas have befallen them and how they’ll make it through in one piece.

Wonderfully Healing!
Revisado: 07-23-18
Kristine Carlson presents a wonderful perspective about loss as it changes us into a new life, whether it is after losing a spouse (as she did) or child, as well as loss through divorce or betrayals. It is beautifully uplifting. Her own narration adds a sense of authenticity, hearing her own voice speak of the worst and best experiences.
I was drawn to this book because of my familiarity with Joseph Campbell's brilliant "Hero's Journey" as well as my loss of my husband eighteen months ago. The audio book has a PDF workbook to aid in answering personal questions as a means to figure out your own path.
I highly recommend!

Would be a great TV series!!
Revisado: 05-23-18
I'm hooked on this series! Mrs. Sarah Brandt--Victorian widow and midwife--donates clothes to a mission for wayward young women, only later to be asked by Sergeant Frank Malloy to identify one of them found dead in the New York City park. As Sarah's friend, he recognized her hat and suit on the dead woman. Thus starts the search for the killer.
I loved the twists and turns. Victoria Thompson is a wonderful writer!
