In the aftermath of his terrible war, Ender Wiggin disappeared, and a powerful voice arose: the Speaker for the Dead, who told the true story of the Bugger War. Now, long years later, a second alien race has been discovered by Portuguese colonists on the planet Lusitania. But again the aliens' ways are strange and frightening...again, humans die. And it is only the Speaker for the Dead, who is also Ender Wiggin the Xenocide, who has the courage to confront the mystery...and the truth.

Great story. Too many readers
Revisado: 01-14-23
My only complaint is there were 8 readers that seemed to change at random and it was very jarring . Story was great.

Needs the unabridged version
Revisado: 12-04-21
Catalyst needs to stop with abridged versions of their books. They're so much better complete. The sounds effects could be toned down a bit.

Great book. Sub par narrator.
Revisado: 03-13-18
NarrAtor needs voice acting training. No character voices at all. Story is a classic one.

Historia
For the handful of scattered Jedi, survival is imperative if the light side of the Force is to be protected and the galaxy somehow, someday reclaimed. Yet more important still is the well-being of the twin infants, Leia and Luke Skywalker, the children of Anakin and his doomed bride, Padme Amidala. Separated after Padme's death, they must be made safe at all costs, lest the hope they represent for the future be turned to horror by the new Sith regime, and the unspeakable power of the dark side.

Can't judge a book by it's title
Revisado: 02-26-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
It would be nice if the book, Dark Lord: Rise of DARTH VADER was actually about, oh I don't know, DARTH VADER. The entire book is actually about a group of Jedi on the run from Vader, not actually about the Dark Lord himself. There's like 6 scenes in the whole book with him in them and 4 of them is all "my life sucks" emo. If you want a book about Darth Vader, check out Shadows of the Empire.
Would you ever listen to anything by James Luceno again?
Definitely. He did a great job. It's not his fault the book is poorly written.
What does Jonathan Davis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Acting skills. Granted, as a filmmaker I see the book play out in my head like a film, but it's easier listening to someone playing the parts.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Massive disappointment. It's not about Darth Vader at all.
Any additional comments?
