Historia
Cedric the Brown is a wizard with a dark past. In an effort to make amends, he hides in plain sight among the residents of a space station he once nearly destroyed. Cut adrift by a bankrupt megacorp, the mobile mining station sets off to uncharted space in a desperate attempt to scrape by. What they stumbled onto would change the course of the galaxy. A planet. A lost alien race. A secret that will lead to all-out war. How will a station filled with scoundrels and crewed by former miners handle being the fulcrum of history?

Just Ok.
Revisado: 03-18-24
I've read the other adventures in the Black Ocean series, and in my opinion, this is the weakest yet. It seemed like the main protagonists self-inflicted many of the calamities, with one of them acting like a child and being stubborn. I expected more from the series, but I can't complain about spending the one credit. This could have been condensed into 6 books and still gotten the plot across.

Too much politics
Revisado: 02-07-23
I loved the first book and the literal world that the author was developing. However, the sequel felt like a rant in political mongering, focusing on classes of people for 75% of the story. Terrible follow-up that even Ray Porter couldn't prop up.

Historia
In Act III, we follow Morpheus on a grand journey to take care of family business. He visits with his son Orpheus (Regé-Jean Page), an act that brings with it profound consequences. Accompanied by Delirium (Kristen Schaal), he tracks down their estranged brother, Destruction (David Harewood), the only member of the Endless ever to abandon their post. And at an inn at the intersection of all worlds, a group of travelers are forced together by a storm that threatens to destroy reality itself, with grave repercussions for Morpheus and the rest of the Endless.

Convuluted mess
Revisado: 11-07-22
If it weren't for the performance, my review would have been one star. Act three felt very fragmented and went off in many directions that were hard to follow. I think this will be my last listen to this series :-(

Historia
Recon Marine Conor McCall didn’t expect action during his training op in the icy waters off Norway. But when a bizarre summer fog engulfs his boat, he and his team find themselves in a fight against strange, cruel monsters from the depths of the North Sea. When even their allies are enemies, the Recon Marines must do what they have always done: adapt or die. But with a world of ice and monsters seeking to destroy them, every second is mission-critical.

Not for me
Revisado: 03-28-22
I thought I would love this book as it was right up my ally. However it felt very generic with little thought into the character building. The other reviewers were right and you are literally thrust into the action, but it just seemed like it was throwing every type of monster after monster at you in a war of attrition. Felt like a movie with no plot leaving you scratching your head saying, that was it?

Prepare yourself
Revisado: 03-24-16
Where does Morning Star rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The best thing I have ever listened to. Ever. Tim Gerard Reynolds elevated this book to so many levels. I felt a mix of emotions through reading it. I felt betrayed, elated, anger, and happiness and have gotten my wife hooked on the series only to relive it with her. This was a true masterpiece.
What other book might you compare Morning Star to and why?
Red Rising and Golden Son. Really... Pierce Brown did an amazing job. The only narrator/author combo I could compare this true is the Way or Kings or Mistborn with Brandon Sanderson/Michael Kramer.
Have you listened to any of Tim Gerard Reynolds’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The Cycle of Aarwyn and the Cycle of Galland. True epics that total probably 90 hours together. Tim does a fantastic job with those characters but he elevates Darrow and Severo to another level. I could feel the anger in his words as he spoke.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would if I could have.
Any additional comments?
Please read the series and enjoy the ride. I cant wait for the movie and I look forward to reliving the series many more times.
