Like all of Marie's stories, this was a fun and cute rom-com. Aricka Parent did a fantastic job narrating the story and making the characters come to life. This is very much a clean romance with only brief kisses. I have learned that personally, and this is nothing against the author since it is my weird quirk; I don't like listening to the parts where they mention kissing since they are hard to skip. I would much rather read it in a book so I can quickly skip ahead, but that's hard with an audiobook :) There is some description of how the characters feel when being kissed, but there is nothing to say that the kisses themselves are descriptive. It is very clean, and I would let my preteen daughter read it. I need to go now find the next one in the series so I can read about Thea's story, but I highly recommend everyone to either read/listen or do both with Marie's books. She does a great job with every book I have read.

Short and sweet second chance

I received this audiobook for free, but this opinion is all my own. Speak Your Truth is a second-chance rom-com that is easy to listen to while working or doing something else. Aricka Parent did a fantastic job narrating and bringing each character to life with consistent accents that fit each character's personality. I always worry about female narrators since they usually make the female characters' voices too high-pitched for my liking, but Aricka did an excellent job of keeping each tone level.
As for the story, it was easy to follow as I cleaned, and it was not cringe like some second-chance stories can be. Marie wrote the story beautifully, so I felt I was right there with the characters. While each part where Amy had to speak the truth made me nervous, Marie used the interaction to strengthen her bond with each individual, and the situation's awkwardness did not draw out like other books. I also appreciated that Maire didn't make the relationship between Amy and Lucas one of hate or revenge when they first meet after 8 years. They approached their situation like adults, and it made the ending fit better than if either one had been holding a grudge. I also appreciate that Marie made this a clean romance. There are some kissing scenes, but nothing that triggers me not to let my preteen daughter read. I also like that Marie mentions how the characters are not sleeping together while dating, an example that should be discussed in more books.
